I don’t know, I don’t follow the RPI (and neither does anyone else to my knowledge). B12 is probably marginally better than the B1G this year, and that is only because the B1G has Rutgers and Illinois weighing it down. But “significant step up” is laughably inaccurate.

That’s one metric and it’s not “significantly” better. NET rankings seem to favor the B1G. Anyway, both conferences are tough this year.

I think they’re pretty equivalent this year. Last year the b12 was clearly better

What does last year matter if we’re talking NCAA tournament chances this year?

Last year 9 out of 10 B12 teams went atleast 8-10. Not sure the last time that % happened for any conference.
Kenpom has 8 teams in that scenario this year.

Playing everyone home and home has really benefitted the strength of the B12.
