Sseing Des Moines

Yeah if you compare it to cities that are on par with it. Des Moines is pretty good. Can't compare Denver to New York or LA.
You know what's kind of a weird thing about Des Moines.

Driving through Des Moines is generally a breeze, but driving through a parking lot in Des Moines is a nightmare.

Unless there are big events going on, even KC has a pretty dead downtown and the warehouse district in Minneapolis has become pretty scetch lately.

Downtown DSM is about perfect for me. Not so popular that you can't normally get a seat for dinner or going to a bar, it's pretty safe, and traffic isn't nuts.

Des Moines has come a LONG way in the 12 years I've lived here. When I moved here nobody even considered the possibility of living downtown.

For the population and cold winters, Des Moines has a very large and great downtown. And it's constantly being improved. One by one old buildings are being replaced with something usable.

Des Moines's downtown is fantastic for it's size. Compare it to similar towns in a 6 hour radius (Omaha, Wichita, Tulsa, Peoria, Madison, Sioux Falls, Fargo, Rockford IL) and it's close to the top. Probably only Madison is clearly ahead of it.

Country rap. I think I've seen everything now.

Although I do remember Casey Kasem years ago having a trivia question as to what rap song was the first to top the charts.

Sixteen Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford

Frankly, I think he is still singing.

Dear Des Moines,

You suck compared to San Diego. Please send me all the free stuff that you can.

Sincerely,

Guy on Vacation

Just as a side note Denver is much better than San Diego. I just can’t survive in a society that spends most of their time tweeting, instagramming, facebooking, and snapping out how amazing their, and all, personal trainers are the greatest people on planet earth.

I once saw a country rapper named Cowboy Troy perform with Big and Rich. If they'd have just played Save a Horse first it would have saved me 3 hours of my life.
