Zeb Noland transferring

Our offense either needs a quick release (Kempt), or quick feet (Purdy). Zeb belongs in more of a Baylor under Briles offense, with the emphasis on throwing deep.

Someone like Purdy would knock him out of that system to because he's better at throwing the football. At the end of the day, this isn't about system fit, it's about Zeb not quite being a BCS level QB. That's why he was available when he was in Campbell's first class.

2 questions.
If he leaves at semester could he play 2nd semester at new school. That could explain leaving now. Could play some next year if better then there starter.

Will this put Braxton Lewis on Scholly at semester or have they found him one yet or does he have to wait til next year? If so good for him, he deserves it.
I'm pretty sure Lewis has a full-ride academic scholarship

it's a 4-year full tuition scholarship, so that would run out after this academic year. if he sticks around for a RS-Senior year, he probably wouldn't turn down full-ride athletic scholarship

Take this for what its worth, but this has a lot to do with the progression of Re-al Mitchell. What we are running with Purdy is much easier to transition to Mitchell than Zeb. If Purdy does get hurt we will see Kempt as the primary QB (as we should), but with plenty of packages for Re-al.

Hadn't thought about it, but this makes sense as the running option has emerged as being so valuable for us. Seems like Zeb may have gotten caught in the middle of Kempt being the back-up throwing QB and Mitchell the running QB.

This is one of my new favorite gifs of all time. I'm watching it on repeat and have tears in my eyes. Right up there with Kane's pass off T-Rex's back. :D

Or the K-State Willie Wildcat kicking the kid at a party.

Another potential landing place for Zeb. Iowa? I think his skill set would fit perfectly in their offense. He could step in right after Stanley is gone.

Was just about to post that Zeb is actually a nice fit in Iowa's system and based on the overreaction from their fan base after PSU, I think they would welcome him next week lol.

In all seriousness, I dont have anything against Zeb's decision and wish him the best. I hope he has a successful career at a non BigXII (or Iowa) program!

Our luck, he’ll probably wind up at UNI & have a career day against us...

Messingham, currently the OC at North Dakota State, just followed Zeb

(edit to add more schools)
Eastern Kentucky, North Dakota, Central Michigan, Cornell, and Mercer are all following Zeb and vice versa. Zeb is following few Eastern Washington coaches

How did that guy get an oc job holy moly
he was at Montana State before NDSU. Not to shift all the blame elsewhere, but Rhoads had his hands in the offensive more than OCs needed them to. We were pretty bad while Mess was the OC, but he was left to run Herman's offense, which wasn't his, with Rhoads dictating what should be done. Not a position that allows you to win

Without knowing their QB situation, App State would be the most likely landing spot for him, at least in my mind. I'm guessing he'll end up in the Sun Belt or MAC

App State's QB (Zac Thomas, sophomore) has been pretty decent this year. He'd still have to compete pretty closely and win the job if he goes there.

If he has been passed up by 3 guys in the depth chart, then it is understandable that he is leaving right away. I sincerely wish him the best. He seems like a good guy with some misfit skills that won't succeed here . What is irritating is that we have no offensive coordinator, poor special teams coaching, poor OL coaching, on going recruiting, freshmen players to train, injuries, playbook development, etc.. and Campbell is going to take time out from all this to help a guy who quit the team midseason to look for another place to play.
