Ending Iowa's Dominance

Didn't he start all or most of last year? I remember he did against us. I don't think I've ever seen or heard of a guy go from being on the two deeps one year to having a scholarship pulled the next unless there were legal issues involved. I mean never. Not here, at Iowa, at LSU... Anywhere.

He got worked against us last year, that's about all I know about him. It was confirmed on HR that he was losing his scholarship this off season by Sanderson and then one opened up for him

Interesting, I've never heard that. Do you have a link by chance?

I was told it by a friend and YeahBuddy (previous poster on here who got banned from trolling) has a premium account on HR confirmed it. They said he was walk on and was just awarded the scholarship for just the one season and lost it this summer but never said why

Sooo some anonymous guy says he heard it from another anonymous guy who got banned who heard it on another message board.... Sounds legit.

Blair Sanderson said it. He's not anonymous

I don't care who said it it's just stupid. I just checked and he started all last year. He was listed as a starter on their post season depth chart (whatever the hell that is). He was listed as the starter in their spring depth chart. He was listed as a starter in their fall camp depth chart. He started the first two games of the season. Now I have no idea how good he is relative to other safeties in the B12. I DO know you dont go from starter on 10/17 to starter in 1/18 to starter in 04/18 to losing your scholarship in 06/18 and back to starter 08/18 and through the first two games.

That's just dumb. Football doesn't work that way.

You are wrong but OK

I have read that he wont be on scholarship going forward.

He was on scholly for one year and is now back to a walk on, not sure what is ruthless about this.

Im sure you will muster up some faux outrage on it though.

It sounds like Cedric Boswell is leaving so that would put us at 84. Gervase may end up with that ride but as of Friday night, Blair from Rivals said he was not going to be on scholly.

I don't think Gervase is very good. There was a reason he was losing his scholarship this summer until one opened back up
LOL. They were going to pull a scholarship from a starting safety who has been a multiple All Academic Big Ten and has won awards for his leadership. But instead he's playing almost every snap.

He was listed as the backup behind Snyder but yes Blair Sanderson said he would not be on scholarship in June for this upcoming season. Shortly after, a player transferred and they announced he would indeed stay on scholarship. I know someone who is friends with the family and Gervase was 100% told he would not be on scholarship this upcoming season in early June unless something changed. He's still on scholarship so I'm not sure why it even matters

How is ISU a "stepping-stone" program? We've fired every coach since Earle Bruce in 1978 except for Chizik. We would have fired him ultimately, but he left before we could.

Notice I said "good hires". No matter your "program label" it doesn't really dispute my main point. Bruce left for Ohio State. Majors left for Pitt. It's generally accepted that Campbell will be moving on at some point. When we've had good coaches, albeit rare, there hasn't been enough infrastructure or support from the university. That's the biggest difference between the ISU I grew up with and the ISU today.

So what was your point again?

June 9th, 2018. Just emailed my buddy who has a premium account on HR and this is word for word what Sanderson said:

I've heard Jake Gervase will NOT be on scholarship this fall. https://iowa.rivals.com/news/fb-scholarship-distribution-chart

June 12th, 2018 after some kid transferred. Word for word what Sanderson said:

Now I'm told this morning Gervase is absolutely on scholarship for this year.

Nobody cares what minute, semantic battle you're having with the Hawkeye trolls. Ever. Nobody ever cares. Stop flooding the board with BS.

The one area where the culture still has to change with this football team is the OL. I still feel that many of these guys seem to be intimidated by many of the defenses we face. High snaps in key situations, false starts at critical times. They need to be the ones to dictate the flow. When it is 3rd or 4th and 1, they need to tell CMC that they want a run play called because they will guarantee a first down & go out and do it. Hopefully the OL coaching will result in increased ability and then the kicka$$ mentality will follow, jmho.

I know someone who is pretty close with Jake's family and what I'm saying is 100% accurate and not trolling

Don't know how many Iowa guys are on their team, but a couple weeks back, I counted more than 30 on ours (ISU's). Also, a goodly number of them were O-line.
