Top Gun 2: Maverick

I was done with the franchise when they killed Goose. Unless the plot involves his ghost or his reanimated corpse teaching Maverick one final lesson, I'll stay away.

I always thought this was Anthony Edward's definitive role...

Are they really so out of ideas that they want to make a sequel that is over 30 years after the original? It hasn't worked out all that well for other movies. I guess they just hope for people showing up on opening weekend out of nostalgia.

There is only one "way too late" sequel that has ever worked out for me...

Mad Max: Fury Road

But DAMN that one worked out.

A lot has changed in 33 years..... Miramar is now a Marine Air Station, the Top Gun school is in Nevada, and they chose the F-18 as a replacement for the F-14 (in the movie) rather than the newer F-35 that I'm sure the Navy would love to market.

Here is a notice we received last week, looks like at least some of it will be based in San Diego:

Maybe this is due to the start of our invasion of Mexico. It's about time.

A majority of the filming is happening at Navy North Island. I've had buds send me pics of him on the ramp and filming some scenes. I was also told that he chose the F-18 over the F-35 because of the 2-seat option. Cruise wanted the opportunity to fly in it for filming purposes and not just rely on flying footage without his face in it.

Pics showing up from my neighborhood toward the end of Point Loma as well. Either they are going to revisit Kelly McGillis' house or perhaps there will be a scene with Maverick "visiting" Goose at Ft. Rosecrans Cemetarry?..........

I'm in a tough spot, I thought the first movie was awful.

From the article:
the story “follows fighter pilots dealing with a world in which drone technology is making their old style of flying obsolete.”

Better hope this movie is so bad it's good because that sounds horrible. I can already see the climax from a mile away. Something happens where they can't use drones and Maverick has to jump in the jet and save the day. Lol! This thing is going to be terrible!
