Wigginton declaring for NBA Draft, not hiring agent

According to CW, Wiggs really wants to be a pro, so how much could he expect to make in Europe if he went there this season? Because I don't see him being on an NBA roster, and in the G league you make about as much as bagging groceries. So I feel his only chance at making some decent money would be in Europe. What could he get over there?

I think I saw Garrett was making about $500k in Italy. Not sure on the others.

Oh I took it to mean that he really wants to play basketball professionally.

CW meant that LW has always really wanted to play professionally i believe...but i don’t want ot speak for CW.

LW as much as i’ve Seen in interviews adn read in articles i don’t think has any desire right now to play in Europe...at all. Think it’s safe to say if that is his only option he would return to ISU. Seems like he’s darn set on wanting ot be first Nova Scotian drafted to the league.

But like other’s have said maybe he went to workouts and reality set in. Who knows. Would be really hard decision for sure.

Could be sure. Yep his measurables are what tell me he’s not getting drafted 1st rd. Now if he had true pg skills along with everything else then i could see him fringe of 1st rd..but my feeling is scouts see him as an undersized SG...So it could be hey go back to ISU and play pg and develop your pg skills or you are a undersized SG and are prob a 2nd round pick no matter what..Problem is I don’t really see a team drafting him this year in 2nd rd. It is a deep guard draft and there are always 3-4 international kids picked every year nobody expected. Seems like in interviews he’s always wanted to be 1st Nova Scotian drafted adn first one to make NBA.. I think we all hope his dreams are fulfilled at some point.

Yeah, agree with a lot of this. I think the big thing for him is to show he has the skills to play point, which then takes care of the problem with his size.

If the NBA is his dream then you stay in the G League imo. Euro money will have to wait.

Once you go to Europe you rarely come back. If you want NBA you have to play g league.

If he had confirmation from teams that he's guaranteed, he'd have hired an agent and announced he's staying in already.

He'll finish his workouts, if some team gives him good news, he might be gone. But otherwise, he's back.

LW made a stretch decision to try for the NBA after 1 year. His skills are unpolished but he does have future potential. Now he seems to be in desperation mode. Past ISU players like Naz Thomas Niang Morris bled Cardinal and Gold and were all-in. LW appears to be all-out. I hope he comes back , but I don’t expect it at all. What he gave us last year is replaceable, but what he should give us this year is not.

The only one out of that group you mentioned that had any realistic shot of being drafted prior to graduating was Morris. Wigginton’s situation is completely different. Saying he’s “all out” for giving it a shot is completely unfair.

Are you saying the decision has already been made? Just want to make sure I don't misunderstand the current state of play here....

There is nothing “stretch” about testing where you stand with NBA scouts and teams.

If he goes pro, it doesn't mean he didn't bleed cardinal gold. He has a legit chance to set himself up for life. Every D1 player has NBA aspirations. If he has a chance to actually get there, no logical person could blame him for leaving.

I hope he comes back, but if he doesn't then I wish him nothing but success and will be proud he represented Iowa State.

This take sucks

If anyone knows what it takes for guards to get into the NBA and also get drafted as a guard it is S Prohm. He’s had what 3 guards get drafted? In like 4 years. Not bad. Prohm knows what NBA is looking for and what a player needs to do to get drafted (has a good idea anyway).

These workouts are 1 on 1...2 on 2 and 3 on 3. Shooting drills...etc. I highly doubt given that..any team after one workout with a 6’2 combo guard came away with “wow” we are gonna guarantee u “this”. But that’s my take. If LW leaves he’s probably ok with playing in G league and tryin to work his way up. Hope he makes a decision he’s happy with and can have no regrets. Wish him best either way. Go cyclones!
