Yeah, I remember a post you had when someone called you out about the number of games you went to and it was not 5-6 either more like 1-2 along with a couple baseball games.

"I actually think we should be better next year without Uthoff, he was not a crunch time player"
Yup, that’s definitely unique to Iowa. There totally weren’t threads on here last preseason full of people outraged that Iowa State was picked to finish near the bottom of the Big XII.
I'm old enough to remember playing that all of the time while camping. I wonder how many people were maimed playing that?Lawn darts
Caught my Uncles German Sheppard with one....I'm old enough to remember playing that all of the time while camping. I wonder how many people were maimed playing that?
Its no secret that I'm a UNI guy and the future in Cedar Falls is incredibly bright for at least the next 4 years, but shouldn't it be concerning to Iowa fans that they're recruiting the same kids that UNI is?
UNI is good enough to beat Big Ten teams in one offs but there is no way that we could compete over a 20 game schedule.
Pemsl had a Creighton offer
Bohannon also had a Depaul offer, was Iowa's fall back option that year, not a number 1 priority that UNI made him. He is a good player, but has his flaws.
Dailey had Rutgers to go along with George Mason and a lot of MAC (better than the valley for talent) schools and other Valley schools like UNI
Kriener had offers from Depaul, Wichita State, Missouri, Minnesota and many other small schools like UNI
I fail to see how this is a Iowa vs UNI battle for recruits when each one of them had another high major offer to go along with the many mid major offers like UNI.
I get it we recruit the same players and UNI has had success with that, but it is not just UNI and Iowa recruiting these kids.
take the Morgan offer by ISU and him going to UNI instead of ISU. so does ISU not recruit the same way? Bad logic here. I get what you are saying in that those guys had some interest at one time, but clearly it was not a battle for recruiting and they were higher level recruits than you think they were.
We also got them because Fran did not close the deal on higher rated guys and some were fall back options. Pemsl was considered higher ranked before all the injuries in high school and has never really developed like we thought. Bohannon lacks defensive skill and drive skill, Kriener has flashed, as has Dailey but they also lack defensively. All still have 2 years to develop and have all started as freshman and soph. If anything they show that Fran severely missed on the Wagner and Uhl classes the graduating and now senior classes. that set us back. Hopefully we bounce back but that is going to be a big hill to climb.
Haven't watched a ton of their games but it seems like Pemsl should be better than he is. Seemed to have a ton of potential his first season. It is a stretch to say the schools you listed are proof the Iowa players are above mid-major level.
Pemsl had a Creighton offer: Legit, but was it before their move to the Big East? if not then a MVC offer
Bohannon also had a Depaul - Could be the worst P5 conference team who recruits at a Mid major level.
Dailey had Rutgers -- Could be the worst P5 conference team who recruits at a Mid major level.
Kriener had offers from Depaul, Wichita State, Missouri, Minnesota. Missou before Conzo recruiting was in the argument to be the worst P5 conference team who recruits at a Mid major level.
Overall Fran competing with programs who are bottom dwellers of their P5 conference for recruits has gotten them to the bottom of the Big 10 and the point of the thread.
Teams figured him out....needs to develop his right hand and a mid range shot. I think being a lefty gave him an early advantage...Haven't watched a ton of their games but it seems like Pemsl should be better than he is. Seemed to have a ton of potential his first season.
Thought he played with an edge/toughness early in his career that looks to have disappeared.Teams figured him out....needs to develop his right hand and a mid range shot. I think being a lefty gave him an early advantage...

I really didn't notice that much...he can't get easy buckets in the post going to his left anymore and they don't respect his mid range jumper. That's what I noticed....Thought he played with an edge/toughness early in his career that looks to have disappeared.

This would make me feel tons better if I was an Iowa fan. Sheesh
Nice try. ISU finished in a tie for 2nd in 2016-2017. They could finish significantly worse than that and still not be in one of the last two places.Yup, that’s definitely unique to Iowa. No secret that the 2014 and 2015 classes for Fran were bad.
The 2016 was decent because of Cook and how much better Bohannon has been than expected on the offensive side. Obviously he lacks on the other end of the court. If Cook stays, you basically got two 4 year starters out of that class.
Hopefully the talent continues to be upgraded. Garza had offers from Louisville, Indiana, Georgetown, etc. Wieskamp is borderline Top 50 nationally and Fredrick had offers from Indiana and Xavier.
If Fran can hit on Carton and one more highly rated kid in 2019 to go along with Patrick that will be a really good sign.
