My brother and I have been doing a tradition of lunch and then a movie on father's day. This year the movie we chose to see was Wonder Woman. Not much of superhero - comic book fan but that is a awesome movie.

Figured out on the drive down to Iowa this afternoon that it was Father's Day from all the buy your dad stuff commercials for Home Depot. Confirmed when I logged onto Facebook tonight. Yup, dads day, who would have guessed.

I was going to make a Facebook post with a picture of my dad's ashes, but my brother is overly sensitive to my morbid jokes.

I got a father's day card from my kids. My oldest started writing Happy Fathers Day on the right side of the card, but ran out of room so he finished back on the left side!? It reads on the left side: "thers day!" and on the right side: "Happy Fa". My youngest just scribbled gibberish on his portion.

This is why old man Boxster cannot bike with real road biker dudes. They average 18 mph when they haven't even been out training. I can hit 18 mph on downhill runs. I hate young strong guys. :p

You biking the full meal deal RAGBRAI or picking up mid-state and heading east?

The plan is the whole week. Mrs. Velo is going to ride the first half but jump off for my 12 year old's weekend of soccer team try-out fun. It was her idea for me to go full week and her drop off.

The kids liked the clue-to-clue scavenger hunt Christmas present challenge I put together for them last year so much that they created a scavenger hunt to Pop's Day. They were pretty clever. I have come to realize that Father's Day is really for the kids and I'm okay with that.

Will look for the dude on the big wheel bike and say hi as you come through.

Awesome movie and great choice for Father's Day (see Chris Pine's character for dudes who can't accept a female hero).

Went and saw the Tupac movie last night. It was ******* terrible. It's like someone said "Hey, we want to play 40 2Pac songs, how should we do that? I know! Let's make a movie!"

It was legit terrible (not that I expected much, but my love for 2Pac clouded my judgement.) Also, me and the girl I went with were literally the only white people in the theater.
I had a similar experience a long time ago when I went to see the Tina and Ike Turner movie. Every woman in the theater stood up and cheered when she hit him back.

We have an employee with the last name Turner. He's from Kenya and his first name is a challenge for most people to pronounce. He chooses to go by his middle name....Ike (which is also short for something difficult to pronounce)

That's not a choice I would have made

I finally got my fat ass on the bike. Rode about 25 miles through the park - I'm not sure exactly due to computer flaking out on me and detours on the trail. Did it in 1:23 which wasn't too bad, but my legs were screaming at me on the last little climb over the overpass when nearing home. The hills are definitely telling me that I have work to do. Chuck City to Cresco to Waukon to Lansing has a few bumps to contend with.
We had to deal with all those detours on our ride last week. We were about a 1/2 mile from getting off of the trail when, all of a sudden, there was a closed sign. We ended up going around it rather than going back and finding an alternate route that would have taken us to God only knows where. It was fine getting around the sign but when we left the trail we had to go through a small corner of somebody's yard. Also, we got to see this at dusk so that was kind of cool. IMG_2024.JPG
Sorry about the poor resolution. I guess the iPhone I have isn't meant for this kind of thing.

He probably should have gone with Tina.
Also, my hand therapist's name was Joan Collins.

I've seen these before. Giant Prairie Rat, close relative to the Giant Wood Rats that live near me. Nature hates Minnesota. It sends lyme ridden ticks and mice plus disease and insects that kill all our trees yet these ******* giant rats are thriving.
