Got a discussion going on in my house that I really don't know how to give a title to-

We were invited to a family wedding recently and was trying to explain the family relationship to my wife- the wedding involves my grandma's sisters great grandson. What is that in relationship to me? Third cousins? Second cousins once removed?

so the great-grandparent is the common ancestor? Chart says 2nd cousin, one removed.

In other words, too far to be getting wedding invites, ha.

Grandmother *** G sister *** siblings
your mother *** G sister's kid ***first cousins
you *** G sister's grandkid *** second cousins
you *** G sister's great grandkid *** second cousins once removed

Your kids would be third cousins with the guy getting married.

Thats exactly what I was thinking- but we are from the same town, are friendly with one another when we see them- so whatever.....

makes more sense. I was thinking I'm not even sure who all of my parents' cousins are so that would be super weird to get invited to strangers' weddings.

spider? It felt like a mouse.

Well, now you have done it. KC is going to offer you a stray country cat sure as hell.

Well, DUH!

Button is available...

Boxster might even want her - not only does she do a fine job on mice & ground squirrels, she even took down a full grown rabbit that was actually as big as she was. Hey, when you have four hungry mouths to feed...

I have 36 first cousins. My sons have met 2 of them. Most of them are on my mother's side and are mostly located in & around Houston & east Texas. When she passed away I kind of lost contact with them because most of them are bat-spit crazy. The two they've met are the older sons of my favorite uncle. They still live in the Hill Country, near my aunt (my uncle passed away a few years ago. PapaLew & I saw that group when we went down for the Thanksgiving tournament on South Padre a few years ago. I'm very glad we did, because he passed away just before Christmas. :(

@BoxsterCy or @VeloClone I'm looking to buy a bike. What's the difference between a mountain bike, a road bike and a fitness bike, to an out of shape potato like me?

here you go, champ

this makes me realize that I'm not even sure how many siblings my mom's parents have. I know my dad's, but not the other side. I know each has at least one sister but seeing as that side was Catholic, I don't think they stopped at two in the '30's.

Dad invited me to ride along on what should be his last flight before getting signed off again. I agreed and then remembered the forecast. Between working outside in the morning and this flight I am interested to see how much I sweat off tomorrow.

Oh heck, I have NO clue how many siblings the grandparents had...other than my paternal grandfather, who had 2 sisters. And the only reason I know that is because I saw them nearly every summer.

I hate when I get obsessed with a musician and then other people are like "I don't get it" and my only response is, do you listen to it with like, your ears?

I feel like a less horrible person now, haha. We are really close with my dad's uncle (our "grandpa") so that's the main reason I know that side. That and my dad's father only has one sibling, a sister who we are also fairly close with. Comes to holidays and such. Turns out mutual dislike of the bio grandparents brings us all together ;)
