Burton

Come on guys, open your ears. That reference was made about Livingston on TT and made over and over. It was never said about Burton

You're right he said it over and over about Livingston, but there was definitely once in reference to Burton. No idea if he was just stuck on the line or stupid but he definitely said it

I like Burton and he will do just fine. Young will get his chance but he needs to be eased into the Big 12.

In fairness to him, he's not made to be what we're asking him to do. It's easy to sit back and say "take it to the rim" but the fact of the matter is he's a big guard being asked to be a power forward.

Champion dunk MACHINE, but NOT "made to drive to the hoop? PLEASE explain... I don't quite "get" that one!

I think most everyone has brought up accurate points of criticism AND praise about this talented player, but/and he has AMAZING potential to be an INCREDIBLE ASSET on this team. I PRAY CSP can not only discover AND execute the best ways to deploy this asset for the maximum benefit to the team AND be able to coach him such that he eliminates the "negatives" from his game...thereby accentuating his positives and helps him understand HOW to deliver "net positive" contributions EVERY night!

Here's to you, Deonte! We ARE rooting 4U!

Comment was probably in reference to Burton's handle. Big difference between dribbling while guarded and help defenders swiping at ball vs. unguarded in dunk contest.

For a P5 D1 player Burton might be the worst I've seen at using his off hand(right) he literally cannot shot a lay up right handed and teams have scouted this. He can't go right at all.

If Young is the best post player, why ease him into the big 12?

I was thinking let his body and mechanics get adjusted to playing with the big boys. Just don't let him play 35 or more minutes a game. Introduce the time slowly and then eventually he should be good to go.

Open your ears. There was one time the announcer said "Burton's another one of those guys that can't jump over a can of tuna, but..." and then went on to say something about how he's still able to be effective. I remember saying it in a couple group messages that clearly this guy doesnt know much about him. Quit acting like a douche when multiple people heard it

Dunking it in warm ups is easy. Dunking it after playing for a few minutes on tired legs is more difficult. Dunking it on tired legs with a guy 4 inches taller than you in the way who doesn't have to respect your right hand is even more difficult.

I would point at BDJ. He had games where he didn't do anything at ISU. He was starting and getting points for New Orleans.
The NBA looks at "bodies" and BDJ had and Burton has a body that could guard multiple positions. Some team could take a look at developing him because he has such amazing tools.

I've played a lot of BB, have coached a bit and have watched a ton, as well. I have no idea what I'd do with Burton, if I were CSP.

I wonder if some people just lack a killer mentality or something. I root for the guy though and am glad he's a Clone.

No...just no. Deonte Burton is a solid college basketball player. He will never sniff the NBA.

Burton can't guard a statue.

I agree he's poor on D. I wasn't impressed with Nader's man D last year, either and he seems on track for an NBA shot. But you're probably right.

He really does remind me of Nader. A very talented player that struggles with consistency. Hopefully he can do what Nader did in the 2nd half of last year, which was become a consistently good player.

A 6th man type of stint might be his best bet. Put him in to interject some scoring in a short amount of time at multiple positions.

When he starts looking like he's forgotten that he's in the middle of a college basketball game, pull him.

Weird--he seems really versatile but doesn't really have a best position.
