ISU-Iowa line

The GLIMPSE I saw they looked ok. Didn't take notes and watched LSU/WI mainly since it was a close and more interesting matchup.

I guess that since ISU got pushed around by an FCS team that a MAC team would be a breeze.
If you only saw a glimpse then your just being ignorant saying that they are "solid"

Our WRs are never very good. AL good, I'd take him in a heartbeat. I'd just have expected more given his accolades coming in, especially in the pass happy Big 12.

Second team all Big 12 as a true sophomore, first team Big 12 preseason this year playing for a terrible team with bad QB play. You're trolling here, I know you well enough you're not this stupid

I would guess thee ChokeEyes will be favored by 21points.....Here is the rub with takin' thee points...If our astute O-Line coach(lol) does not get any better production out of our Line, Our Defense will be like sitting ducks in a barrel ...then their is the fatigue factor which was on display last nite.....

With No Running game or 2yards per carry out of Mike Warren this game could get out of hand very early...My recommendation....Drink plenty of alcoholic beverages before you enter the stadium and keep fully fortified and at least consider leaving at halftime to rehydrate with More Alcholic Beverages......

Considering Kinnick and their Super Bowl motivation is worth at least a combined 6 points it's not that bad

- Jim Criner lost 51-10 vs the Hawkeyes in his first game with the Cyclones.
- Walden lost to the Hawkeyes 48-9 in his first time coaching the Cyclones.
- Dan McCarney lost his first game to the Hawkeyes 27-10.
- Gene Chizik used the magic Scooby-Leg to eek out a win at 15-12 in his first Iowa Matchup (note, Gene was the first coach in this list to not have to face Hayden Fry as Iowa's coach.
- Paul Rhoades lost 35-3 after winning his opener against NDSU 34-17.

Doubt Campbell will be as lucky as Chizik. Also after having witnessed Saturday's debacle, I would say that Campbell is not as good as Rhoades or McCarney at managing a game where your own team has definite negatives. So magnitudes of 27-10 and 35-3 are also unlikely. So that leaves us in the range of 48-9 and 51-10. Having said that, I would say that ISU's offense has more potential than the Criner or Walden era, and that ISU's defense is probably better than in the Walden era (though the 51 points in the Criner era might indicate that defense is also horrendous, I do remember that 1983 defense wasn't horrible, but the Hawkeyes were a monster).

SO...
Hawks by 20 points.

With one or maybe two exceptions this is the worst team we will play for the rest of the season. Give me the Cyclones. Why? Because nothing ever makes sense.

Iowa is the second most difficult opponent behind maybe Texas (looking salty against the domers). Enthusiast else lost or looked meh yesterday against opponents less than Miami.

Ok, what do you think the line will be for next week?

I'd say Iowa will be favored by about 17.5, but they should be favored by about 28.5.

Worst thing is, I have to be there to witness the beat down. Hopefully I can be out of there by the half. I don't know how much I can take.

Thanks for your incredible sacrifice for traveling to see "your" team play. Sorry for the incredible burden of having time to watch sports.

I said he was good. Just not as great as some think. Numbers don't lie. He only topped 100 yards twice last year. Came in as one of the top WR recruits in the country. Not all his fault, bad QBs and OCs. But he should be victimizing guys like Mabin and for the most part he hasn't.
You do realize he can only top 100 yards when the QB gets him the ball, right? Just because he doesn't have 12 catches for 100+ a game doesn't mean he isn't dominating his opponents. He gets open at will, targeted or not. I wouldn't expect a fan of a rival school to notice it, but don't talk trash about something you know nothing about. Season stats don't tell the whole story.

You're generally regarded as not knowing what you're talking about. Mabin will be fine as the season progresses

Yeah I'm sure as a senior the light will just all of a sudden come on for him. I know he's not going to play against good competition but he did get lit up by a bottom feeder MAC team

Mabin is serviceable to above average.

Iowa stayed in cover 2 almost the entire game, and there were safety issues. Also, several times the LB missed an assignment. They actually tried 3 technique, and that added to lack of pass rush, which would be non existent in any event given the above.

But enough with facts, even though the facts above should concern Iowa fans greatly.

If it is Iowa's developmental plan to continue to develop the defense, that would mean we wouldn't see any blitzing to any great extent next Saturday, and that would mean ISU has a very good chance to win.

If that were to happen, I doubt most on here would understand why Iowa did what they did, but there are certain things that need to get done becuase you play 12-13 games a year, not 1.

Iowa also had some o line issues.

If it is a blow out next Saturday, I would be surprised. But it is really difficult to try to read anything into Iowa's defense as the drop off between 1 and 2 on the starters that were benched is a variable that is impossible to either prove or disprove. The pass coverage issue, although for different reasons that most on here realize, and the pass protect issue seem to be be pretty real however.

That's like saying Iowa State's offensive line is serviceable to above average

No, actually it's not. If the extent of your football knowledge is to single out individual players as being horrible, and to point out Iowa fans are douche bags in your limited worldview, you'd be better served to quietly continue to be ignorant, rather than speak/type, and let everyone know you're ignorant.
