I don't think Kenpom ever had us at 20-11 and 9-9 last year at any point. I thought CyTwins and Gunnerclone were the same two that told us the Naz injury wouldn't change the expectations of this team. 3 games into this conference season and we have a less than 1 percent (0.8% via Teamrankings.com) chance to win the Big 12 regular season title.

our starting 5 is probably as talented as anyone's in the country, but losing Naz's contribution, even the sub par Naz, has been brutal...Thomas has undoubtedly has turned into a better all around player than Naz, but Naz's leadership, ability to to score ( he was getting to the rim when missing his J's so still able to contribute) and toughness are vastly missed. With Cooke not gelling and Burton's inconsistencies, we simply can not contend. It's one thing to have depth problems of going 7 deep, but when you can't count on ( or the coach doesn't trust) numbers 6&7, you are pretty much screwed.
Losing Naz certainly hurt our team. All I said was Naz being back next year helps next year's team more than it hurts this year's.
I'm no sunshine pumper, this team has no shot to win the big 12. Just have to hope they get hot at the right time and make a run in March
Keep thinking that and you will be active in many meltdown threads. And Thomas is not undoubtedly better than a healthy Naz.
Was it really that hard for you? Are you sure you don't want to try and diminish those guys anyways?
No I just think it's stupid to say this team is missing those players when they also lost to Baylor at home. This team is the same as last year. Heck OU is much better this year and they beat us up in Norman last year. At least this squad gave us a chance to win there
That is actually not what you said. Expectations don't change, his is only a 29% 3 point shooter and a liability on defense, he can still lead from the bench, depth is overrated, etc. That is what you an Gunnerclone said and you ridiculed anyone else with a viewpoint of concern. That is what you said but I appreciate the revisionist history.
Relax and watch them win about 8 more games. They are lucky they don't have 2 or 3 more losses at this point in the season. They haven't learned anything from losses last year or this year. The players (especially Georges) say the same thing after every loss.
As fans, I think it is impossible to relax with this team.
At the start of the year, the starters on this team were 4 seniors, and a very talented junior. Now, with the injury it is three seniors and 2 juniors. This team lost to a mediocre UAB team in the first round of the NCAA after coming back from double-digit deficits in 5 straight games. If after all that, and at least the Iowa and Baylor games this year, this team still needs to "learn" to focus for an entire game, and needs to use yet another bewildering loss (at home no less) as some sort of motivation.....I don't see much reason to relax. If they have not learned the need for this focus for 40 minutes by now (or before the Iowa game this year), they never will.

I think you can relax if you stop believing this team is a national title or even conference title contender. They aren't. Do not have the mental or physical toughness required - not even close.
It will be a great year, they will win and lose games, and they certainly still have the ability to knock off OU and KU and others. And you never know, they could go on a run in the NCAAs. But lets see this team for what they are - talented but soft.

You have a lot of learning to do.
We are coming from behind and losing because we are not that good, but generally tend to out-play teams. We are a team with a thin margin for error.
Yeah, we did not learn our lessons. Gaithers did little except block like a tight end and we still lost.
I dont recall them running triangle and 2 for an extended period of time like they did yesterday.....they may have and just don't recall.
