My defense mechanisms are at play here, and I'm fooling myself big time. But I keep telling myself that this team might go further in the NCAA with a lower seed.

For reasons I can’t quite put into words, I can understand that viewpoint. For various reasons, this team seems to fit that profile. (And it's more than just "underdog/chip on shoulder" vs. "favorite" — common view on CF).

Quotes like these make me think these players still do not get it:

Niang is closer to getting it. It shouldn't be coming down to the last possession or a few possessions against "inferior teams."

If they don't figure this out real soon, they could miss the tournament...
