CGC..

It's strange because it seems like most people are pretty apathetic, but yet ticket sales are going pretty well.

I think folks like the social aspect of the games as much if not more than the actual game (no duh, right?), at least until we start winning, then all hell will break lose.

Go Cyclones, can't wait to watch a Saturday game again.

What's funny is people "fell for it" last year when the staff didn't seem encouraged, but they wont when the staff actually does.

Correct me if Im wrong, but didnt the coaching staff, particularly CPR, say last years team was the most talented he had fielded?

I would rather come in with low expectations and maybe be surprised, then come in with high expectations and know I will be disappointed.

Thats just me though. If you want to be all excited and happy for this season, then more power to you. Im just not falling for the crap CPR is selling this year.

"Backstabber."
Saw that for the first time today, so I want to use it while it's fresh.

Oh I believe it. Just sick and tired of all the backstabbing on this site. People being negative Nancy's and such.

It comes with poor sports teams. Like, every sports forum in all of the world. Except Canada. They're too nice.

I think it speaks more to the ****show this forum has become.

Express optimism and get ridiculed.
Express pessimism and get ridiculed.

The fan base is too divided to be civil. It's like politics only its among 15 year olds.

I have a ton of respect for Chris Williams. He works his *** off putting together a great source of info for Cyclone fans, then has to wade through miles of ******** on the forums. If it were me, I'd have pulled the plug on the forums a long time ago.

Hopefully once the season actually starts the fan base might find some common ground. Not that that will show up on here...

Talent alone won't win at Iowa State, but now that that talent has some experience to build on, chemistry together, and actually having the same system again instead of learning a new one every year always being behind the ball. Football is a little more complicated than you think. There's a reason the staff is upbeat this year and they weren't last year.

There is more to ISU athletics than just football threads on CF. 1000 cyclones were at the all sports meet the coaches thingy the other night.

Its just another continuous demonstration of how this forum isn't at all representative of the whole fan base. Of course there's no positivity on here. Anybody that has anything positive to say quit going to the football forums awhile ago. This place has turned into a cesspool and people have learned there is no reason to go to a cesspool to talk football.

I am actually more excited about the upcoming season than I have been for years. Why would I want to express that here?

Solid plan! No forums = no traffic = no clicks = no income = no CF. No CF than no discord in Cyclone World!

That was the plan that made Cyclone Report the ghost town it is today.

Do we need a football expectations gif thread? Since we are struggling to use our words.

Are people supposed to be excited about a team that hasn't even started their season yet, with a lot of unknowns?

The 'knowns' have been beaten into the ground:
An experienced QB and Oline (sort of vs. injuries last year)
Decent receivers.
A defense with a few decent players and some potential to be better than last year.

Personally I'd like to see where things are after 3 games before any excitement builds up. Otherwise I'd feel like someone from other fanbases that expect big things in August, despite nothing happening in prior years.

I think that part of the problem is that what little info we have has been hashed and rehashed ad nauseum--all of the sweet goodness has been wrung out of it.

Looking forward to seeing if we get some even vague and general hints from the CGC outing.
