But it continually happens to ISU, even when they're just 'ok' coaches like Chizik, they all can't wait to get out. There was a time when Ferentz was just as sought after as Fred for NFL teams and Iowa anted up. ISU doesn't have the budget to keep a really good coach and Iowa has a richer history in football/basketball and isn't looked upon as the 'stepping stone' that ISU is.

Ha Ha, not even close.

Care to explain? Kwood walk on, NN, and a bunch of misses on transfers and grad transfers.

And Iowa still an ginger-filled team with a jellyroll mental makeup. Gesell and Woodbury just the right guys in crunch time to lead Iowa to numerous victories!!!

The fear that the U of Iowa mbb program instilled in ISU players and fans is real and palpable.

oh wait, I just woke up from my nap. never mind

p.s. Fran will continue to own Iowa high school recruiting, since the lily-whites are too afraid to venture too far away from mommy's minivan.

Congrats on Gesell and Woodbury. Two 4-star recruits who play like 2-star, if that

I read where Pollard said they basically couldn't afford to pay Hoiberg more. I agree he didn't leave necessarily because of money but that doesn't change the point that ISU can't afford to retain a coach. Therefore in basketball or football if a coach has success in Ames, he'll be gone soon.
Failure

Gosh that is funny stuff coming from the land of Lute Olson, Tom Davis and the pinnacle Steve Alford......

And we'll hire a new one that kicks Frans asss.

They've had one coach who was on a Fred Hoiberg-like trajectory and he went on to become an Arizona legendary coach for many years and now everyone remembers him as an Arizona guy...another college program, not the NBA.

ISU's best season of all time came after a different ISU coach left for the Bulls job. History teaches us that johnnybgood may be in for some disappointment in his sports fan life.

That 8th grader is definitely locked in as a 5 star. That's not changing anytime between now and his senior campaign.

Top 20 5* is what I saw Patrick described as this morning on a hawkeye board, no jimlad.

Also "plays like a brotha" was a nice touch.

It is hilarious how badly KF's agent and a few NFL old boy buddies played the entire University and fanbase.

UI, specifically GB, absolutely got played with the last contract. But overall, given the success Iowa has achieved with KF, BCS bowls, top-10 finishes, conference titles, top draft picks, etc., he's absolutely been worth the investment. The game has simply passed him by. We'll have to see how far the program will be set back because he's overstayed his usefulness by 3-4 years now.
