JTS construction webcam?

Looking at this how do they alternate color of sections in the corner? Do you alternate K,L,M&N and ignore that they don't match up with 17, 18 & 19 or do you keep K&L the same color and then alternate M&N?

I would imagine the fact that L has no partner in the bottom deck probably has something to do with why we aren't seeing the alternating pattern continue in the SEZ.

That's probably exactly why. Good call. Although I actually like the alternating colors in the renderings especially with the separation created by the entrance tunnels between the upper and lower gold sections. I wonder what they'll do in the bottom of the corners then? All red there too probably and then alternate to gold for all of the endzone or maybe even back to cardinal just in 21.

EDIT: I just looked at the renderings again the the center sections are all cardinal... I hope the entire endzone isn't all one color

That is looking so awesome. As one of the attendees at the very first game in JTS, it's amazing to see the improvements!
And I looked at the south end at that very first game and envisioned the SEZ. It took too long but it is going to be better than I ever envisioned.
We have an awesome venue,.....now we need coaches staff and players that only win at home so it becomes our house again.

That can be taken two ways. I will read at is only win not lose rather than only win at home, always lose on the road. :twitcy:

Can anyone give a midday 4/28 update?

Yes, and I was really surprised when that was removed. Like I said I wasn't there when it was constructed so I don't know how that was attached to the rest of the structure. If it was all precast I still don't believe it would be economically feasible to remove the existing thin section.

All Im talking about is removing the old seats, and putting in new seats that connect those two sections. If you look between S and R, there is a very narrow gap in the seats, but that gap is definitely not big enough to be a walkway.

I would hate to sit in sections 17, 25, K, L, R, Q. My vote would be that visitors sit in 17, K, L.[/QUOT]

I'd agree with this. Don't most stadiums split up the visitor sections so they aren't all in one area. I like to put some near the student sections so they could drown them out.

The crane was included in the price. It's staying under the bleachers.

:jimlad:

Hopefully while it's there they can start digging up the endzone to make sure there isn't a goat or something else buried underneath it. There has to be something that's been cursing ISU football for this long!

One of our statistics-inclined posters needs to go back to the opening of Jack Trice and see which end we score the least and start the excavation immediately. And hopefully it's only one end that's haunted!

Now that you say it that way I see where you were going

I wonder if the lower seating in the South Endzone was done in aluminum instead of concrete in the event that the Endzone Club is not successful (or a new club section is built as part of a future expansion phase elsewhere) and would be modified to become regular seating. If the club doesn't remain there 10,20 or 30 years from now, that building in the endzone could become athletic offices, locker rooms, audio/visual space, etc. Makes sense to have flexibility with a project of this size and cost.

Aluminum is cheaper and faster to produce, transport, crane in, stack, install, and makes the sized beams smaller because its less weight, and the pier footings smaller because its less weight, less digging, less forming, it goes on and on. The crane might not have even been able to get out with concrete pre formed.

This is exactly what I assumed they would do when they removed the wall. Take out the small section of existing gold bleachers and replace them with new that spanned across into the new construction. Then alternate section colors from there. Now it appears that there is nothing but a small gap there, useful only for snaring small children.

So you think that would be regular seating and the amenities there would be solely for those seat holders?

The End Zone Club will remain. Pollard will get them marketed. No problem.

One thing I've learned being in various athletic venues over time is that things change, and change often. I didn't say the SEZ club was going to fail (I actually really like the premium seating option it creates at JTS) but that isn't saying that 30 years from now, Jack Trice will look exactly the same either, or that the current club amenities won't need a major overhaul. All I was getting at was that the material could have been chosen to ensure the stadium is flexible if trends in stadiums, fan support, etc., change over time. Jamie knows this too, and I wouldn't be surprised if he made a decision about materials based upon future venue options & scenarios that may occur down the road.
