When Kentucky and Carolina had mediocre coaches they got mediocre recruits. The programs don't recruit themselves. Kansas puts in years of recruiting on all these kids and misses on most of them. Like I said, you just keep throwing your line out there hoping you'll reel in a big one. This is easy to say when you are Kansas and a majority of the Top 30 are on your radar and have an interest because of the name on the jersey. When you are Iowa State, you have to get in on these guys VERY early and only a few are even learning more about Iowa State. Hopefully that will change but right now, KU recruiting Top 30 guys vs. ISU recruiting Top 30 guys is night and day different.
I feel like I've heard this before.Well Chieck, It's been real. It's been fun. But it hasn't been real fun. Have fun being on the first KU team not to win the regular season title in over a decade!
He also needs to avoid injuries.Diallo will be very good for Kansas. He won't tank. He has the body and energy for college basketball.
But I'd still take our bigs over theirs.
Like Alexander? When Kentucky and Carolina had mediocre coaches they got mediocre recruits. The programs don't recruit themselves. Kansas puts in years of recruiting on all these kids and misses on most of them. Like I said, you just keep throwing your line out there hoping you'll reel in a big one.
Yes, but if Niang was 2" taller and could leap, he probably would have never come to ISU, and by now he would be in the NBA regardless.
Better to keep bringing in great recruits and deal with the occasional one that doesn't work out as well as hoped then to not bring them in. Adding the next group of recruits to a team of juniors and seniors next year will probably end well for Kansas.Like Alexander?
Make it fifties.Wth Self and Calapari making home visits next week that is a lot of cash filled dufflebags being carried around.
I feel like I've heard this before.
I have no idea what you meant with your last sentence. Are you saying you think SELF forced Alexander out? I hope that's not what you meant because anyone that has followed it at all can see it was the actions of Cliff's parents and the NCAA's unwillingness to change their standard punishment for impermissible benefits that forced Cliff to go to the Draft.
Meh....KU will be stacked on frontcourt with Diallo Bragg and Ellis. They will also likely land either Zimmerman and Thorne.
They are also returning a lot of players (besides Oubre Alexander) such as Graham, Selden, Svi, Greene, Traylor, Lucas, Mickleson, etc.
Anything less than another big 12 conference title and a final four run will be disappointing with a blue blood program that stacked and a coach as reputable as Selfish. It seems he tries to keep his players their which is respectable at least as Alexander was essentially forced out.
All of which you said is why I was shaking my head about us being ranked ahead of KU in most of the polls. It doesn't make sense. Once again, they will be full of talent. And from the outside, they look better next year than they were this year.
Why would 38 year old Ellis go? He is too old for the NBAWith Alexander and Eubre gone, if Ellis goes I'm pretty sure Diallo won't be coming to ISU.
I agree that KU will be much better next year than they were this year. I also think we'll be better with our added maturity/leadership.
Should make for a great battle along with OU and Texas in the B12.
