WSU top 10?

Moral of the story. Play a bunch of bad teams. Get rewarded with good rankings and a high seed. Play a tough schedule and ranked teams. Drop in rankings.

UNI and Wichita State shouldn't be any higher than a 5 in my book. UNI is probably a 5 and Wichita is likely a 6 or 7 to me.

I actually think WSU is the better team of the two. I'd have WSU as a six, and UNI as a seven.

I made a rational argument upwards in the thread that they and WSU have no better resume than a team on the bubble, using texas as an example.

I think you can make an argument for Texas being in (although it's a good thing to actually, you know, win some of those tough games you're always playing), but not at the expense of UNI/WSU.

At some point you have to respect the high RPI, BPI, KenPom, Sagarin numbers that the MVC teams have, despite the MVC being a bit weak.

Illinois St. has as many top 50 wins as Wichita State. If they beat UNI, they would have as many as UNI.

I know this will never happen, but one could actually make the case that if UNI loses today that they shouldn't make the NCAA Tournament.

Wichita St would be the regular season champs and Illinois St would be their tournament champs and automatic qualifier. So you have to make the argument for taking 3 teams from a pretty bad conference to the dance.

Not only that, but when trying to make the case for this 3rd team (UNI), you look at their resume and nothing at all really stands out. Wins against Wichita St and Iowa are about it. And nobody even knows if those two teams are even good or not?

Personally, I think UNI should be in with a loss today, but the argument could be made that they shouldn't is all I'm saying. And if that argument can be made, how in the world are they higher than about a 6 seed...... at best IMO.

In comparison if you could fantasize that ISU played in all leagues, their worst finishes would be BiG and ACC as third place based on RPI.

Butthurt post volume 52 over people having conversations.

Peek through your curtains... I think a kid is walking on your lawn.

As a dual fan I'm perfectly fine with having conversations and discussions about ISU vs. UNI based on strength of schedule, conference strength, etc., but there are definitely at least a few ISU fans who have admitted as much they are, indeed, "butthurt" about UNI having such a great season so far...you know, because even though UNI is in a different conference and doesn't play ISU this season, any success that UNI has will hurt ISU (again, I've seen those words written on here). I think there's also a sense of entitlement among some of these fans that only ISU gets to have the nice, new shiny toys, and to h#ll with any other in-state team having success. IMO, those people earn whatever mocking they get.

No...actually no one could make this argument with a straight face.

Look, I'm not going to suggest that the MVC is even close to the Big 12, and any Panther fan who thinks it is needs to have their head checked (although I'm still waiting to see actual evidence from the OP that someone actually wrote that, just like I'm waiting to see that someone actually has UNI on a 3 line at this point), but the committee, contrary to some popular belief, doesn't take conference affiliation into account when they make their selections.

If you did leave out UNI solely based on their being in the MVC, you would have to completely ignore their Top 20 RPI, BPI, KenPom, as well as a Top 25 Sagarin rating. Even if we lose today I don't think those numbers will drop too much to bring any validity to that argument.

Exactly. UNI better win today or they'll join Murray State on the outside looking in
