Emerald Coast Classic in 2015

I am excited at the possibility of playing Illinois.
I like the matchups with an improved Virginia Tech and possibly Illinois, but the TV exposure might not be anywhere close to what we will receive at the CBE Classic this year.

Our game against Alabama in the CBE Classic this year is being shown on ESPN2 and the championship game will be shown on ESPNU. The championship game of the Emerald Coast Classic this year is only being shown by the CBS Sports Network (that's the cable sports channel, not the network). The TV coverage for the ECC might change next year, but if not, it will be hugely disappointing

Could this be a recruiting tactic to play in an area where they are targeting some recruits so they can reach more of the families and friends?

Maybe its not "big" in most eyes, but playing Illinois, VTech and UAB are actually better opponents than last years Hawaii field. Just sayin....

Agree 100%. Not as flashy of a tourney but quietly adding some better non-cons. I like it.

Any word on which opening round games will be scheduled at Hilton? Chattanooga, Alabama State, Chicago State, and Jacksonville State were the possible opening round opponents...

2016-17 Maui? We will find out in January I belive

would LOVE that. Maui tournament has always been one of my favorites and would love to see ISU play in it.

side note, this years field is alright but the 2015 lineup is legit.

I wish we could get into a tourny with actual competition. Virginia Tech, UAB, and Illinois scare nobody.

While that is true, I have been thinking about going down to this tourney considering tickets are pretty cheap (or at least they are for this year). Not to mention the arena is pretty small, meaning that the seats would be fantastic.

I completely agree with you! I am very surprised. You expect schools like Auburn, Mississippi State, or Georgia for that matter accepting an invite to this dinky tournament. We are "big time" now!

Looks weak. I'm surprised we are doing this.
