Bogus points: We lost to UNI and NDS. They get lower tier talent and they BEAT us. They took it to us and anyone who watched those games knows they were the better coached teams without question.

I don't expect to see a great Cyclone team, either. That's nowhere near my expectation.
I simply want to see a team that can win 6-8 games every year. That should be a minimal standard, but is apparently much too high for Cyclone football. That's very disappointing.
Keep it civil fellas.
We are keeping it civil. How much time do we as fans have to give Coach Rhoads, honestly? I get that he needs time to establish stuff, but it has been six years! I think Pollard needs to come to grips with the fact that Coach Rhoads probably is NOT going to get things done in Ames...
The difference is Rhoads had had support and facilities like no coach at ISU had ever even dreamed of. Hoiberg's taken that support and excelled. Rhoads had taken that support and taken a huge messy dump with it.
I keep reading these reasons/excuses for why we can't put together a decent recruiting class because of our location and conference ... How is it that Nebraska accomplished this only 3 hours away?
Literally every visitor to our football facilities remarks that they are NFL caliber. To even insinuate that CPR doesn't have the tools he needs here is simply ridiculous.
Just a pinch of tradition perhaps . . .
Ah, so the Florida and Texas recruits go to a cold boring Nebraska town for the winning "tradition" that they weren't even alive to experience. Makes sense.
The new Football facility is what, 2-3 years old?
Did you think we would build it, and all of sudden our players would run 4.4 40's and we'd start dominating?
The facility is a GREAT tool that we haven't had before, and I think it is starting to pay off in the last two recruiting classes. Look at the best players on the team:
Bibbs - recruited 2 years ago
Lazard - last year
Montgomery - last year
Tribune - 2 years ago
Cotton Moya - 2 years ago
Campos - 2 years ago
Wesley - last year
Mutcherson - 3 years ago
Burton - 3 years ago
Taylor - Last year
The guys that are making the biggest impact on the team are guys that Rhoads and staff brought in the last couple years AFTER the facilities were upgraded. You can't expect the facilities to pay dividends for Iowa State the second they are completed. That's not realistic IMO.

It's not the only factor but it plays a role. For example, playing for the "vaunted blackshirts" can appeal to the recruits. Also as KnowNothing pointed out they are the only major school in the state which definitely helps.
What makes anyone think a new coach is going to change the results. Every saturday i come on here and its fire the coach. How about we stick with the coach and see what the future holds. If we suck for two more years oh well. We have sucked for 120 years give or take 3 decent seasons. . Whats two more. Its one of the hardest places in college football to recruit. We have some decent offensive weapons that are young. We have a proven offensive coordinator that is new. If we made the move we would have a huge payout and could not afford a good new coach anyway. We might want to replace some defensive coaches. I get that. But enough of the fire CPR stuff. Give it a rest.
Yes today was a huge disappointment but why dont you guys answer an honest question, do you guys really expect a Cyclone team with the gauntlet schedule they have year in and year out to win 6-8 games every year?
