Iowa may be the easiest win on the schedule.

Go back one more year why don't ya and we win a BCS bowl game and finish 7th in the country. When's the last time you can say that? … I won't expect a response because there isn't one.

Like I said, Iowa used to be good, ya know 5 years ago.

Kansas has won a BCS game in the last 10 years also. With that great football program.

Then we both agree we should just ditch the series and schedule different teams that can benefit both schools?

I wouldn't care if they did ditch it. Or maybe do like 2 games over 5 years, something like that. I know it is good for the state, but Iowa really doesn't need another rival, as we have Illinois, Wisconsin, Minny, and Nebraska. I get ISU needs a rival since they don't have one, but they will be fine without one really.

No trying to be funny, I do think the Iowa game is one of the easier games we'll have this season. They looked absolutely pathetic their first two games. The whole BIG has.

Does WI and NE know you are their rivals. I know NE has no clue of this.

When you get a chance will you say hi to the state of Nebraska and Wisconsin for me. It is really amazing that you know everyone in both states.

The desperation to matter to someone really permeates from this place. We may not matter but neither do you hawk fans (But hawk fans we want to be your rival).

I imagine you were high fiving yourself in the mirror of your Ford Taurus after that clever quip.

The game is important for both teams.

ISU needs to win the game to show to recruits and the outside world that there is something happening in Ames. Previously this game was a benchmark for ISU. It is still a benchmark, but nowhere near what it once was. For both schools it is a big non-conference game.

Iowa needs to win the game to maintain the vision to recruits and the outside world that all is well in Iowa City and they control their "turf". Fry did make the game a huge emphasis and used it in in-state recruiting.

For either fan base to say this game isn't important is empty headed. The significance for both teams while different is huge to retention/capture of the landscape in the state and region.

This year the game is huge for ISU as it is 0-2 and while close last week are still 0-2. Starting the season out 0-3 is abysmal and will compromise sales, concessions, etc. It is important for Iowa as their schedule is so weak that they have a legitimate chance to impact the national championship landscape if they win this game. Huge prize at stake for both teams.

I can't believe I'm going to say this..........well said, I agree 100%

The sad thing is, you could have posted this at any time in the past 10 years and it would have made sense, give or take a year or two when Iowa had a decent team. But the Big 10 being **** is not a recent development.

Agree with most of it except the national landscape part. Would the committee take a second SEC team with a loss or two over an undefeated or one-loss Iowa team that has the easiest schedule in the country? I don't know. I honestly could see them go both ways.

I know the hatred here for the Hawks but I'd trade records with them no matter who the opponents were. The big 10 is down now and the big 12 is strong. It hasn't always been that way and over time it will change, it always has.

I guess we have to talk conference smack right now until our team has the winning records. I don't get much talking smack when we're 0-2.

Can you talk conference smack when you add nothing to the grand scheme of things?

Seems sad.

Pretty big weekend for Big 12 vs Big Ten

Iowa (projected near top) vs. ISU (projected near bottom)
Minnesota (projected middle) vs. TCU (projected middle)
Maryland (projected middle-bottom) vs. WVU (projected middle-bottom)

TCU is home, other Big 12 teams on the road
I believe these are the only 3 games between the two leagues scheduled this year.

That doesn't even make sense. This game is more important to ISU and they focus so much on it but yet they're 7-2 the week following a victory in their last 9 wins against the mediocre Hawks. Iowa hangs up ISU posters for the game and my sources have told me Iowa started prepping for this week after the UNI game, hence why they looked terrible against Ball State
