Another arrest

Anyone caring about the law, just search for Iowa Code chapter 321J, specifically sections 321J.2 and 321J.2A.

These guys have too much time on their hands in the summer.

Victory before honor. The "78" way...

The real world way.

This 'Honor Before Victory' **** is a complete pet peeve of mine. It's a total sham. The next person I hear yell out "at least they are good kids getting a great education!" after a loss, will be the first. I can't help but feel that anyone that uses that terminology is just a complete hypocrite.

My off topic mini rant is complete. Feel free to go back to over reacting to a DUI.

There's a difference depending on BAC but not much. It's just the degree of stupid. Driving underage with any alcohol in your system is just stupid, ESPECIALLY as a Division 1 athlete.

Drinking too much and driving doesn't make you more stupid just because you're a D-1 athlete. Drinking too much will make anybody do things they wouldn't normally do, but millions of Americans well over 19 years old do it all the time. Drinking and driving is serious business, no doubt, but I wonder how many on here have done it both before and after they were 19 years old, myself included. When I was at ISU the best bars were downtown, and me and my friends could have been nailed dozens of times driving home. Yes we drank too much and we were stupid, and we were just lucky not to get caught and I imagine most college students and millions of adult Americans could say the same. Drinking is a big part of social life in America and highly respected adults get owi's all the time, and many many more could. That's why I won't jump all over a 19 year old kid for doing something that I agree is stupid, and he will have to pay a price if he's guilty.

Hopefully, he was not with any teammates when he was drinking under age. Otherwise, the team may have a culture of drinking problem considering Nader's OWI.

Uhhhhh...seriously? He is in college. He is surrounded by a culture of drinking regardless if any of his teammates drink.

All of the > 21 year olds were at the bars in KC getting drunk. And there were cases being brought to the younger guys room as well. Our guys know how to party. And win.

Well Cubs, I guess you should have signed up for the next night as well....
Either way I'm putting this one on you.

Re: ** Just the News - Basketball - no discussion in this thread **

Going to mug night tonight. I'll be the designated driver for any basketball players that get silly. If any players get arrested tonight, it's my fault. If you sign up and a player gets in trouble on your day, it's your fault.

Anyhow, I think it's a good idea to always have someone being the designated driver for the players. I'll start the sign-up now.

Good idea, but no one should be publicizing this if it is happening. Blatent extra benefit provided by boosters, regardless of the fact it is potentially saving lives. Thanks a lot, NCAA.

Not going to get too worked about a OWI, they happen, I would hope he's not suspended for more than a game or two at most.

For an ISU basketball player, I don't think it's a wise move to be doing anything that could possibly keep them off the court for a while. There is a whole lot of talent here and a lot of guys just ready to step ahead of them.

Yep, especially when two transfers just came in at your position.

While I agree it's nothing to get worked up over, I really hope the suspension is more than 1 game. And OWI is a very serious offense. That death toll that you see on the interstate is a real stat.

Thank god no one was hurt. suspend him for a few games and hopefully he's learned his lesson

I was hoping his already fragile confidence would be a thing of the past next year- not now

He'll carry this burden because he's a sensitive dude. His shooting % will probably go down even more next season

he killed someone?

Distracted driving is responsible for more accidents than anything esle. You ever talk on your phone, eat, or mess around with your radio while driving?

Where is the podium? I have to post on how much smarter I am then these college kids....
Kids will be kids. Thankfully no one was hurt and he will be smarter next time. I. NEver got in trouble for this despite driving over 50 times under the influence. Older and don't risk it now but when you are young, many times you make bad decisions. People need to get over themselves.
