Another arrest

bye bye Matt

Really?

He made a dumb mistake. It happens with kids. Be glad nobody got hurt or worse, let him serve a suspension and hope he learned his lesson. Look on the bright side - this will give some other guys a chance to get some early season reps.

All things considered, at least it was about as good of a mug shot as mug shots can be. Honestly, couldn't care less.

You don't care that one of our players willfully broke a law that he has seen others on his own team break and be punished for? Bringing bad publicity to himself, his teammates, his coach and the fans, when it is such an easy thing to avoid?

Did I stutter? The answer is No!

One thing I do care about his his what he blew at on the breathalizer. If that comes in at an overly high number, then I might slightly care.

No, because I'm going to start spouting off my opinion soon.

Lost some respect for Matt with this. He had the opportunity to watch and learn someone else on the team screw up just a few months prior and no doubt listen in on Fred's lecture to the team and then he goes out and does the same thing. Where do you have to drive when you're hammered in college??? I don't get it.

Hopefully, he was not with any teammates when he was drinking under age. Otherwise, the team may have a culture of drinking problem considering Nader's OWI.

I hope he was with someone on the team, they are all going to drink regardless of age might as well be friends on and off the cour

OWI is one thing, but drinking in general..... My guess would be that a very high percentage (Maybe 80%?) of college athletes under 21 at every university in the country drink alcohol. A much smaller percentage actually get behind the wheel though.

Yeah Matt wasn't the first and won't be the last one to drive under the influence, but there is a reason it's illegal. It's dangerous.

Really? C'mon, you can't be serious.

I probably drank too much alcohol every single weekend when I was at ISU. It doesn't make it right, but it is what college students all over this country do.

Now... why they choose to drive after drinking is beyond me. You just don't have to do it. Dumb.

And I liked what the poster said about how Matt, and any other player on this team, cannot afford to miss too many games with all the talent we have. If Matt has to sit out several games, and SDW gets his minutes and performs really well, then Matt may have trouble getting his minutes back.
I don't think you want to sit out many games on this team. There are a LOT of really talented guys just waiting to prove themselves and to take your minutes away from you.

19 years old. Does a lower blood alcohol limit apply to those under the age of 21 and driving? I thought it was .02% for those under 21.

If you are under 21, you can get a Zero Tolerance if you blow above. 02, but it turns to an OWI if you blow above .08. Zero Tolerance is not a crime that goes on your record.. You just lose your license for like 45 days.

The real question here is, has Erik Wheater covered this on the channel 13 morning news yet?

Remember under Coach Fred Hoiberg, everyone gets a 2nd chance!! Learn from mistakes and become a better person and better player!! Look at the transfer Hoiberg have taken in, he gave 2nd chances to White, Lucious, Allan, etc!!! Same rule applies here with Thomas!!

Thanks for some actual legal facts. Do you have a link? I've been wondering about this.
