There was a forum vote.Everyone? I must have missed it when you were appointed spokesperson. Especially when you are clearly in error.
You can boot someone from a basketball team for whatever happened. Absolutely. But if its clearly not a slam dunk case legally you don't stick the knife in you want as clean a break as possible for those same reasons (PR.) Along with the fact that as an educator if you are punishing a student drastically and to this extent there is an inherent responsibility to act in the best interests of the student in terms of them moving on and using their mistake as a learning experience.
I see an ego maniac president making a bold decision to boost his own ego with the way things went down whereas if it was handled properly it would have just been strong leadership.

I was saying I don't think people will be talking about it much beyond the decision coming down, because most people stopped talking about this till this lawsuit happened. But you had to be "cute" and take what I said literally. If the topic doesn't interest you, and you don't care, why do you post on threads?
I do not presume to know what a person goes through who has been falsely accused of rape because I have never met one. For those who presume it is just as bad as rape, I hope you heard from victims of both rape and false accusation. The victims of rape I have worked with suffer differing consequences based on the person and the circumstances of the rape. Some suffer nightmares at least weekly decades later. Others commit suicide. Some are fired from their employment, disowned by their family, murdered, stalked, shunned, and harassed. Some attempt therapy; others are subject to civil commitment. Some become addicted to drugs and alcohol in an effort to forget. Others develop a variety of sexual disorders. Some face agonizing decisions as a result of pregnancy by rape. Others endure a variety a health concerns including STDs, eating disorders, HIV/AIDS, sleep disorders, etc. Some even live fairly normal lives eventually. Some carry physical and/or emotional scars for life. All are always presumed to be liars; that is why the majority of them never file criminal or civil charges.
And there were texts prior to the call between them right? But they couldn't be used as evidence in Bubu's favor because she was drunk.
Correct me if I'm wrong here.
Except that it's been well reported that this delay never happened. All parties agreed ahead of time to wait until a scheduled trip to Africa was completed. That's not some purposeful "screw the basketball program" delay. It's a weak argument at best.
And then he waited another 3 weeks. Ignoring that he was granted a scholarship in June and all evidence and prior action went his way and that this was the basis of the district judges opinion it is not a wild consiracy theory. Your.taking ISUs post stay ruling spin verbatim as the whole truth. Who.knows the exact truth but the spin was weak imo. If.he was going.to.rule.this way one would expect a heads up given the timing. Am sure the defense assumed the delay.meant they had won.
No in fact they would prove she was within capacity to consent (throwing out the too drunk to really consent theory). It would not prove she consented however. Someone can revoke consent at any moment.
This. How did he make ISU and the girl safer by only removing him from the bb team?

there's no way a text could possibly prove someone wasn't drunk.
I'd have to agree with that one. Given auto-correct and abbreviations and poor grammar, most texts have to be "mentally decoded" even if they're from people who are stone cold sober.
The version i read was he doesn't care what you think. That's one version. My comment was:
"I hope a resolution comes that quickly. However, there will likely be people arguing about it long after any court decisions come down."
To which you replied:
"pretty sure everyone stopped caring on here, till this happened."
"Not currently arguing/discussing" =/= "not caring". Many people care passionately on this topic from both ends of the spectrum.
If you don't care about a topic, fine. There are many threads on this site that I don't even bother to open. If everyone has stopped caring, as you claim, the threads with Bubu in the title would die from lack of use. The thread is active (with your assistance, I might add), which disproves your claim. If your contribution is to display your boredom with zzzzzz posts, why not run along to a thread that can capture your interest and attention?
For the record, Sam Mack still comes up as a topic...and he was probably done here at ISU before many CF posters were born.
Wow state, that is a classic blame the accuser mentality. Sorry, that is how I read the post. (My apologies if I am wrong)
There are so many shades of grey and so many points of misinformation on either side of this issue.
Let me start by saying I have my opinions but do not know what really happened and nor what the full truth is. At this point very few do and they may not agree!.
I have challenges with those on either end of the spectrum:
-Free Bubu, Leath is wrong.
-Hang Bubu high.
However, the biggest challenge I have on this forum on the those who are not open to listening to the each other, and above all the massive level of ignorance on legal issues and university policy issues.
From my personal experience I only know 2 things for certain.
1. Something happened that evening.
2. Leath and Pollard (who have seen things none of us will likley see about this) are comfortable in their decisions. They can sleep at night feeling they feel they made a right decision (I am speaking of how they feel personally.)
Was the decision right or wrong? Personally I have know way of answering that. However, I do feel those that throw either side under the bus should just step back and see what happens as this now plays out.
Just my thoughts.

My take on what it means is that she was coherent enough to call and text someone she knew. That means she wasn't drunk enough to not be able to consent.
