This is kinda how I see the seeds going for Big 12s. Clark and Reader will be 4 seeds and need to place above their seed to ensure a spot for Nationals. It is not common for freshman to get wild cards, but Reader and Clark would be deserving. Need to avoid mistakes at 133-149 and 197 to ensure Fanthorpe, Gallick, Mueller, and Bertolino all qualify. McCormick is a returning AA and Jordan will give Fanthorpe another tough match. Gallick has had close matches with 4 seed Bailey and 5 seed Hoehn. Mueller has a close victory over 4 seed Rowe. Bertolino will need to have another great day in order to place ahead of Brester, Flaggert, or Askern. Bert has wrestled Flaggert and Askern pretty tough, but he needs to wrestle 7 minutes (9 minutes in Brester's case), to have a chance to extend his season.

125 - #4 Donahoe (3-1), #17 Fio (3-2), #14 Shinn (2-2), #15 Clark (2-2), Olanowski (0-4)

133 - #1 Scott (5-0), #6 Fanthorpe (3-1), #10 Jordan (2-2), #20 McCormick (1-2), Shelton (0-4)

141 - #3 Morgan (5-0), #13 Gallick (3-1), #20 Rowe (2-1), #16 Bailey (1-4), Hoehn (0-4)

149 - #7 Burroughs (4-0), #15 Wagner (3-1), Mueller (2-2), #17 Rowe (2-3), Freeman (0-3)

157 - #12 Chandler (4-0), #13 Sanderson (3-1), #17 Terry (2-3), Oliver (1-3), #20 McSpadden (1-3)

165 - #2 Marable (4-0), #5 Dieffenbach (4-1), #10 Dwyer (2-2), #7 Reader (1-3), Dean (0-5)

174 - #5 Browne (4-0), #8 Mason (4-1), Scott (2-2), James (1-3)*, Wittmeyer (0-3)

184 - #1 Varner (4-0), #5 Jordan (3-1), #6 Weitzel (3-2), #13 Jones (1-3), Jensen (0-4)

197 - #6 Askren (4-0), #9 Flaggert (3-2), #18 Bertolino (2-2), #7 Brester (2-2), Foster (0-5)

HWT - #6 Zabriskie (4-0), #8 Rosholt (4-1), #16 May (2-2), #13 Ellis (1-3), Fernandez (0-5)

Thanks for the input, for those who are not that into wrestling, can you color code the above names by school?

How can we have seeds that are that high?
I thought there were only 4 schools in the conference with wrestling teams.

EDIT: 5 teams

Im hoping we get the bump on some national spots due to the fact we have one of the better shots to take the title. The B12 would benefit from giving Clark and Reader spots in the NCAA because of their national rankings...and helping fill a whole team to challenge for the team title.

Grant Turner and Mitch Mueller had a great day last year to get our total to 10. Mitch wrestled with an injury and Grant wrestled the way seniors are supposed to.

If Bert and Scott "wrestle like seniors," I like their chances.

125.
Pretty even weight - Fio beat Donahoe and Shinn, Clark beat Fio. Donahoe - Clark and Shinn - Fio in semis.
Projected Qualifiers:
1st #4 Donahoe - Neb
2nd #14 Shinn - OSU
3rd #15 Clark - ISU

133
Which McCormick will show up at Big 12s will be interesting. McCormick is a returning AA who is a four seed this year after battling an injury most of the season. Fanthorpe has been wrestling very well lately and looks to be peaking at the right time. Jordan has a tendency to gas in the 3rd period of duals, will be interesting to see him in a tournament setting. Scott - McCormick and Fanthorpe - Jordan in the semis.
Projected Qualifiers:
1st #1 Scott - OSU
2nd #6 Fanthorpe - ISU
3rd #20 McCormick - Mizzou

141
Gallick seems to be peaking at the right time as well. Wrestled Morgan of OSU very close. Gable mentioned today that Gallick has been wrestling more like his brother lately, wrestling more controled and smarter. He needs to avoid a mistake in the semis to avoid the 3rd/4th place match. Morgan - Bailey and Gallick - Rowe in semis.
Projected Qualifiers:
1st #3 Morgan - OSU
2nd #13 Gallick - ISU
3rd #16 Bailey - OU

149
This is a weight that I am not as confident being in the top 3. Mueller can beat anyone at this weight but Nebraska's Burroughs, but he will have to wrestle two quality opponents to keep in the top 3. Burroughs - Rowe and Wagner - Mueller in semis.
Projected Qualifiers:
1st #7 Burroughs - Neb
2nd #15 Wagner - Mizzou
3rd #17 Rowe - OU

157
Sanderson lost to a very tough Chandler from Mizzou last Sunday. I don't see him reversing that match from last week, but Cyler will wrestle well enough to stay in top 3. All 5 wrestlers have been ranked in top 20 this year. Chandler - McSpadden and Sanderson - Terry in semis
Projected Qualifiers:
1st #12 Chandler - Mizzou
2nd #13 Sanderson - ISU
3rd #17 Terry - OU

165
Reader has lost to the 1, 2, and 3 seeds by a combined total of 3 points. This is a very tough weight and Reader is a very talented freshman. This weight should get a wild card, but I think Reader will avenge one of his close losses and stay in the top 3. Marable - Reader and Dwyer - Dieffenbach in the semis.
Projected Qualifiers:
1st #2 Marable - Mizzou
2nd #5 Dieffenbach - OSU
3rd #7 Reader - ISU

174
Weakest weight in the Big 12. Some say the weakest weight in the NCAA. Scott will benefit from being at this weak weight, but he won't look weak getting 3rd. But, if he slips to 4th, no way he gets a wild card. Browne - James and Mason - Scott in semis.
Projected Qualifiers:
1st #5 Browne - Neb
2nd #8 Mason - OSU
3rd Scott - ISU

184
Pretty tough top 3, but Varner will have a 9 minutes of riding time in semifinal and final wins. Varner - Jones and Jordan - Weitzel in semis
Projected Qualifiers:
1st #1 Varner - ISU
2nd #5 Jordan - Mizzou
3rd #6 Weitzel - OU

197
Another tough weight where Bert will have back to back tough matches. Bert should beat Brester again, as Brester looked pretty gassed. I said before, Bert needs to wrestle 7 minutes and avoid big mistakes to give himself a chance at the end of a match to remain in the top 3. Brester will get a wild card if he gets 4th, Bertolino might not get the wild card if he places 4th.Askern - Brester and Flaggert - Bertolino in semis.
Projected Qualifiers:
1st #6 Askern - Mizzou
2nd #9 Flaggert - OU
3rd #18 Bertolino - ISU

HWT
Zabriske has had a solid season minus the major decision to #1 Fox and fall to Massey (who beat Fox later). I have no reason to think that Zabriske will not repeat last year's Big 12 title. Zabriske - Ellis and Rosholt - May in semis.
Projected Qualifiers:
1st #6 Zabriske - ISU
2nd #8 Rosholt - OSU
3rd #16 May - Neb

Wild Cards
125 4th #17 Fio - OU
133 4th #10 Jordan - Neb
149 4th Mueller - ISU
157 4th #20 McSpadden - OSU
165 4th #10 Dwyer - Neb
184 4th #13 Jones - Neb
197 4th #7 Brester - Neb
HWT 4th #13 Ellis - Mizzou

Qualifiers
Iowa State - 10
Nebraska - 8
Oklahoma State - 7
Missouri - 7
Oklahoma - 6

Fixed the predictions. Big 12 will get 38 qualifiers to Nationals. I predict Nebraska will get half of the wild cards. But I wouldn't be surprised if Nebraska gets more 3rds and Iowa State is in need of the wild cards.

I would rather they (Clark and Reader) just place in the top 3 and not worry about wildcards. I think they both can acheive this.

Mellie: The number has been 38 for at least 2 years now, possibly 3.

Homer: Think of an 8-person bracket with three byes...
1
4/5
3
2
The 2 and 3 are semifinalists automatically. The consolation side becomes a little messy, but not too difficult to figure out. Loser of 4/5 gets a bye and then faces loser of 2/3. Winner of that match gets loser of 1/(4/5).

Dunder: March 8, 11 a.m. CT in Stillwater. More info here: North America's Premier Sports Dynasty - Cowboy Wrestling

This is a very informative thread. I have a question - how can someone be 5-0 or 0-5 when there are only 4 opponents?

Official seeds and brackets won't come out until around 8 p.m. the night before. Only 3 of the weight classes (125, 157, 197) should really have any "discussions" in the seeding meeting.
