Big 12 Seeds

At 125, I believe Joey Fio of Oklahoma should receive strong consideration for the #1 Seed. His record against the other four starters in the Big 12 is 3-1, just like Donahoe of Nebraska (Returning National Champ). Fio did lose to Ashmore of Oklahoma St, who is not with the team anymore. Fio beat Donahoe head to head. Fio's only loss to the starters is Tyler Clark.

If the seedings fall as they should at 125, here is how they will look.

#1 Joey Fio - Oklahoma

#4 Tyler Clark - Iowa State
#5 John Olanowski - Missouri

#2 Paul Donahoe - Nebraska

#3 Tyler Shinn - Oklahoma St.

This would give Tyler Clark a great chance to reach finals and lock up a spot at Nationals. If they give Donahoe the #1 seed, Clark will have Donahoe in the semis and have to beat Shinn/Fio loser to stay in top 3.

2007, you arent giving clark enough credit. he can beat any of the others, that is if he wrestles the way we know he can. the way i see it, he should be in the finals either way, but him donahoe and fio are all so close. the others are obviously a little more polished than he is, but he can definately beat them.

I want the big 12 again! We are going into it while we are wrestling well! Hope we keep it up!

Agree. We are pretty young to expect to win Nationals, but a back-to-back Big 12 Championship is within reach if the team wrestles well. The NU match illustrated that we seem to be peaking at the right time.

I agree with you. I am a big Clark fan. I wanted him to start since the beginning of the season. I am just saying that I believe Fio deserves the #1 seed which would make an easier path to the finals for the #4 seed Clark. If Fio doesn't get it, I look forward to the Clark - Donahoe rematch in the semis...

This weight will be tricky as well. I hope they don't give Flaggert of Oklahoma credit for his 2 wins over 0-5 Foster of Oklahoma State. Flaggert, Bertolino, and Brester of Nebraska are all 2-2 in the conference (with a 4 dual schedule). Brester beat Flaggert and lost to Bertolino. Flaggert beat Bertolino. Flaggert and Brester are returning qualifiers who have placed higher at Big 12's than Bert. Which will probably make the seeds fall like this:

#1 Askern - Mizzou

#5 Foster - Oklahoma St
#4 Bertolino - Iowa State

#3 Flaggert - Oklahoma

#2 Brester - Nebraska

Tough weight, should get one of the eight wild cards. I am hoping to see Bert finish the season strong and beat either Askern and/or Flaggert or Brester. Bert was beating Askern when he gave up the defensive fall. Bert lost to Flaggert 3-2 and beat Brester 7-6 in 2OT. He is right there with some of the nation's elite (#7 Askern, #8 Brester, #9 Flaggert).
