Let's see. You're coming off a redshirt, haven't played a single minute of college football, you're on the verge of starting or play significant minutes in the Big XII, with a potential NFL career ahead...how do you lose your love for the game?
Just because you're good at something doesn't mean you have to love it...Definitely a big loss and I obviously wish he would stay with the team, but don't make comments like this without walking a day in his shoes.
I'm surprised more lineman don't get burned out considering their drills are pretty mundane and the offseason is so long and so much work. There are some that probably don't deal with criticism well either, which can lead to burnout I think.
I lost my love for golf for a couple years after college. I wasn't even good or at a high level, but after you put in 5 hours a day for 9 months out of the year, it just get's old. That is a sport that's not even physically demanding but it just burned me out and I didn't want to play for a couple years. Like I said, not even close to as intense, so I can understand. There's also the aspect that the coaching is much harder. To be honest, I'm surprised there isn't more dropout in freshman players. It's just a totally different level in BCS football especially when compared to IA HS football.
And this is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) loss out of the class we could have had too. He had NFl potential.
