Official 2014 Recruiting thread

Okay so I will admit, I did some Twitter creepin' on Allen Lazard, Sam Seonbuchner, and Gaelin Elmore just now. Seonbuchner tweeted that he'll be at the Texas game this fall. Elmore replied he'll be at the Texas game and the Iowa game. Seonbuchner replied he'll be at the Iowa game too. On top of that, those three tweet back and forth to each other all the time. We have two great TEs right now and it will show how we can use Elmore in our system. I love our chances with Elmore, especially with Lazard and Seonbuchner keeping in touch with him. This 2014 recruiting class could be special.

Elmore would be a huge get. He could possibly start for 3-4 years here if he wants to.

Gaelin Elmore on Iowa State:

If either Ohio State or Oregon offers, the two will be chasing Iowa State and Wisconsin for the 6-foot-5, 243-pound tight end. The Cyclones and Badgers are the top two for Elmore.

Iowa State will host Elmore for a second time next weekend when he makes a two-day visit ending June 2. On his first visit, Elmore met with coach Paul Rhoads and was blown away by the job Rhoads has done and his future vision for the Cyclones’ program.

The Cyclones coaches are also selling Elmore on the opportunity to play early and believe he could be one of the conference’s top freshmen in 2014.

“They showed me some film of previous tight ends and ones coming back and showed me the plays and they would stop at a point and say ‘This is where you can break this tackle or make this guy miss and go for a touchdown,’ ” Elmore said. “There’s stuff their tight ends were doing, but they felt I could take it to the next step and be that much better."

“I left thinking I’d really like going there.”

Elmore and Mister are two high major recruits that I think ISU ultimately gets. They'd both go great with the guys already on board and could help sway even more talent towards Iowa State.

I think landing these guys also helps Lazard sway that Minnesota RB into coming here too.

A switch from Jeff Jones with Allen Lazard, Sam Seonbuchner, Gaelin Elmore, and Tommy Mister along with sleepers Victor Holmes and Da'Monte Ruth would be the makings of a great 2014 recruiting class. That isn't even including the other guys that the coaching staff is interested in. This class has some great potential. Let's hope CPR and Co. can seal some deals!

I would love to get more guys from the midwest, out of B1G territory. Add Sykes to the list of wants.

It sure seems like we are getting more looks from the upper tier talent in the midwest than we have in a long time.

If Rhoads gets even half of the guys on his offer/want list this year, Iowa State is going to be very, very dangerous the next few years down the rhoad. (Not saying we won't be very competitive in the next couple years, but I would love to see what Rhoads can do with more talent than he already has )

Not that I didn't appreciate it (and greatly), but this looks like premium info to me, might want to trim it.

That is a trimmed version with only information that is applicable to his ISU recruitment. The entire article also includes information on his recruitment with Ohio State, Oregon, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan State.

Yes, but the whole article was premium...because when I went there, I couldn't see more than the link. Which means it's not kosher to post contents on CF.

Now, what I stopped by for...an interesting offer just popped in:

Not sure if this is just an update on his profile reflecting offers from a while ago, or if CPR just now tossed an offer out when he's already committed to MSU...

Apparently he's "Lazarding" and really trying to pull guys to MSU. I'm guessing he's pretty solid to MSU but you never know. Good find either way.

Will he visit ISU again before his June 23rd announcement?

I just read an article from Rivals that hinted strongly that Mister is a lock. He implied that he knows and the coaches know but he won't make it official until June 23rd. Also mentioned that Lazard has been the "head of recruiting" he talks to other recruits so much.

To address your question specifically, when asked if he would visit ISU again, his response was "most likely won't be until after the 23rd." Why would he visit if he was going somewhere else...

would be a great addition. Team mister and team Lazard. In a few years, it might be our offense that is our strength.
