Aaron Cosby

I haven't taken the time to read this whole thread, but are people still seriously questioning Fred's judgment in bringing in transfer? Do you not remember how atrocious we were before he came?

To me, the plan as simple. He overloaded on transfers to make us competitive and credible. He is now in the process of slowly making us less dependent on transferes. That does not mean, however, there aren't holes to fill while the young guys develop. He went big early, has landed good high school talent, and now needs spot transfers and jucos to provide some veteran abilities while the young guys both contribute and develop.

Or, he is just a fan of talent and likes the idea of putting as many talented players on our team as possible. That too...

Bubu is likely to be the starting point guard next year, at least at the beginning of the season. Wrong message to take away a scholarship from a starter, sends absolutely the wrong message to him and the team. I don't see Fred doing that to him.

Bubu will be on scholarship next year guaranteed.

We may have an open spot or two but it won't be from Bubu.

I'm not saying he won't be, but it is very possible the situation is "Giving a contributing walkon a free scholarship for 1.5 years when it was not in use out of the goodness of his heart" instead of "pulling a scholarship from a contributing player because he found a more talented player he liked better". If it were to happen, which I can't say it will or won't.

I like Bubu as a player and think he fills his role well. However, off the court he put the program in a bad light, regardless the outcome. He was allowed to return to the team. IMHO, he isn't "owed" much else from that point.

Depends on the agreement. Did Fred imply this was permanent or did he imply it was on a year by year basis? Most of us don't know that. I highly doubt Bubu will lose it but there is a way it could be done without being a ****.

Meh, I have barely heard anyone even talk about it.

I have been surprised how on televised games the announcers routinely dance around it simply saying that he was coming off of a suspension or that he was suspended for a violation of team rules. I don't think they brought up the accusation a single time while I was watching.

Which is good.

Which is exactly what you should do since all charges were dropped. Mentioning the initial charges would be a disservice to bubu.

"He put the program in a bad light?" Really??? He did that how, by being falsely accused? By doing absolutely nothing illegal? By having his name falsely dragged through the mud and being wrongly suspended from the team?

I'm glad he was cleared, but considering the situation at the time, the suspension was the right thing to do.

Absolutely, but it's most certainly not his fault that he "put the program in a bad light." He didn't do anything other than be wrongly accused.

Respectfully disagree...when you're tag teaming some drunk chick with a guy with a criminal record...

Let's just say that's not the best choice.

I refuse to believe that a D1 athlete can't pickup a willing sober chick...

I'm all for drunken fun...been there, done that...but regardless of your D1 sports status, or lack there of, this wasn't a good choice...and it could have ended VERY badly.

*allegedly tag teaming

Good lord this thread went in a direction I never thought it would.

The seven degrees of transfer speculation on CyFanatic:

1) Someone posts about a potential transfer
2) Someone brings up video or stats on said transfer
3) Opinions are gathered - ranging from 'next Lebron James' to 'Let Him Play for the Squawks'
4) Someone brings up scholarship counts. Notices that we might need room.
5) Talk ensues about who is leaving. Cousin's best friend's ex prom date knows everything...etc, etc.
6) Someone brings up Bubu because of his 'walk-on converted to scholly' status and recommend him giving it up.
7) Bubu talk turns to suspension and the conditions surrounding it. People choose sides and in the end everyone trusts Fred to do the right thing.

See, now if you want to know how much longer the thread will continue, just check out what step we're at. Should be easy to gauge then ;-)
