Bowl Situation Thread

I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would want to go to the Pinstripe Bowl.

Potential bad weather
New York sucks

Couldn't agree with you more. Went to New York this summer. It really sucked and I couldn't wait to leave. Really don't want to go there ever again.

P.S. AWESOME display pic HILLCYD

I'm realy hoping for the PinStripe -- footbball in Yankee Stadium and New Years Eve in Time Square !!!!!

Football in a baseball stadium, with the stands way, way away from the field. And paying 150+\ticket for the privilege. No thanks.

Spending my new years standing on the street for several hours for a few seconds watching the ball drop? Can think of much better ways to ring in the new years.

The nice thing about the Pinstrinp is its location(not for playing football). What better way to get your name out than the New York Media?

From what I remember, there was little to no coverage for the game last year. KSU vs. Syracuse during the middle of the day on a work day. I don't think either team gained any exposure.

The BigXII needs to drop its affiliation with the Pinstripe. NYC in late December is not a reward.

That's easy to say, but we don't know what the options would be to replace it with. I'd rather have the team head to NYC as opposed to the New Mexico bowl or Boise. Unless you know the alternatives, its hard to say we ought to drop it.

Nevertheless, it is kind of hard to see how NYC makes sense. It is the only Big 12 bowl east of Texas. You would think the Big 12 could get one bowl tie in in Florida, New Orleans, or somewhere in the Southeast, even if its a lower-tier bowl.

I was against it, but thought there might be a little bit of an upside. But now that you said that, yeah screw this bowl.

I could see that ticket city bowl match up coming true. Id love to stick it to purdue or northwestern

Wow- that article says the Insight will pass on both Penn State and Ohio State to take the Hawks for back to back years.

Yeah there is beginning to be a lot more talk of Iowa ending up at the Insight Bowl again. No one wants to touch Penn State and Ohio State has been to Phoenix area quite a bit in recent years so maybe they don't think their fans will want to travel out there again.

I don't think I'd be against playing Penn State or Ohio State.. yeah they've had their problems... but I'm pretty sure they would add huge press to this game for us.

I think the Gator bowl REALLY wants Ohio St-Florida game and the Insight knows Iowa will travel and they dont want to deal with Penn St.

I would think most ISU fans would enjoy playing one of these two teams. Great traditional teams that ISU doesnt get a chance to play very often.

Purdue would be my choice as Northwestern has a devastating team that krushed Nebby. Plus if Iowa could beat Purdue, that clinches it for me.
