My only agenda is we have a focus and disipline problem, especially early in games and it needs to be addressed. My concern is the kids come out too emotional and are translating that emotion into errors. Look at these stats (I apologize to those that saw this elsewhere) and tell me there is no issue with our offense:
So far this year: Zero TDs scored on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd series. In fact, no TDs in the 1st quarter.
2010: Zero points (of any kind) scored on our 1st or 2nd series of the ENTIRE season. 4 TDs scored in the first quarter the ENTIRE season: 1 NIU, 2 Utah and 1 TX. The 2 Utah could be credited to the D for forcing very short fields with nice turnovers, our 4 other 1st Qrt Utah series ended in punts. We had 1 1st Qrt field goal, UNI.
2009: Only scored TDs on our 1st series vs NDSU and KU (missed extra pt.) plus 1st Qrt = 17 1st Qrt points vs Kent St, 3 Army, 3 Nebraska, 7 CU, 7 Mizzou....none on the 1st or 2nd series and none in any other game.
So with our current coaches after 29 games we have scored 1) 3 times on our first series, 2 TDs and one FG 2) 3 field goals in the 1st Qrt, 2 after D forced Turnovers where our O stalled 3) 4 1st Qrt TDs vs BCS teams. Nothing to see here????
I'll close by admitting that I find it extremely hilarious how certain people go absolutely POSTAL whenever or however a certain former coach is mentioned. It always makes me think of the "Nobody Expects the Spanish Inquisition" sketch by MONTY PYTHON. One of the funniest things every written and the reaction is identical. Those guys understood human nature so well. BUT is was never my intent in this thread to trigger that reaction. I have a very serious concern.
