I understand what you said earlier about OU wanting equal revenue sharing for the conference but I have a hard time believing that OU and UT are not working out a deal that will keep them a step a head of rest of the conference. Maybe equal revenue sharing for Tier 1 and Tier 2 for the whole conference while OU and UT work out something for the Tier 3 between themselves.

Equal Share between T1 and T2 drops OU and UT's revenue vs the old model but they could make up for it by a deal between the two with T3 in the form of the LHN. ERS will make very little difference for schools like ISU, KU, and MU. But can help KSU and Baylor based on last years TV's appearance.

If this works essentially it stabilizes the league by making the big dogs happy through UT giving concessions with the LHN and any new schools that are added are happy with the ERS. ISU, KU, and MU enjoy continued level of revenue that they are accustomed too.

This is what I'd assume as well. The ERS only nets a difference in the 2-3MM range to Texas/OU. Texas can still make hay with their T3 content.

Yeah, we all know it won't work but we are so used to being screwed by the big boys we can't help but think otherwise.

And that's for starters, it actually can go up from there. So if this concession is made and this becomes a B12 network (in name) where the revenue is shared between UT and OU they are looking at a min of 7.5 mill per year. And with OU added as a second featured team, I would think the payout would be even greater. They would be looking at 8-10 mill over and above everyone else each year. Hmmm. Is that equal revenue sharing? Hardly, but if UT and OU leave what alternative do we have. We would be far better off eating crow and doing this deal. I wouldn't be surprised if something like this isn't being floated to each of the forgotten 5 to get their buy-in. If the forgotten 5 make a big stink then UT and OU will just leave.

If that is the case and we are talking about total and complete revenue sharing then UT will have to give up the LHN for OU to stay under your premise. I don't see OU being in the same conference with UT as long as they have the LHN as it exits now. No other conference seems to be willing to take UT unless they give it up or convert it. So the question is is UT willing to give up the LHN to keep OU from leaving and ultimately the break up of the B12?

The thing that folks keep overlooking is the B12 still needs to add teams to be a going concern long term. The current revenue(and power) structure is not attractive to potential additions, so extreme actions are required to either force stabilization or disbandment. UT either agrees to completely level the playing field or we split up. It should be all or nothing for the B12 to survive, and if they don`t agree then the conference will indeed die. I completely support this strategy, and appreciate the initiative taken by aTm & OU.......even if aTm leaves we owe them a debt of gratitude however this turns out.

Actually, that was exactly correct. No one tipped their hand until Pitt/Syracuse, and then yesterday's announcements. The stuff we've been getting has been random goofs with Twitter firing out every theory they can.

We have one conditional vote from the SEC, one statement from Boren that Oklahoma would consider considering possibilities, and 8 billion Twitter accounts serving as "information" where people apparently tipped their hand.

Even with yesterday's authorizations, they still aren't saying anything concrete (yet), but we're still feeding off of the randomness of Twitter.

I also read somewhere yesterday (and can't recall where, so take it with the caveats of it maybe being as much crap as all the other crap on the internet these days) that there was a possibility of LHN fitting with PAC-12 in some manner...the kicker for me was that if the LHN made more than the PAC rights divided by the number of teams, Texas kept the money. If not, Texas got what everyone got. That's a huge advantage to Texas. No downside of having LHN, but there is upside.

I'm starting to wonder if OK is seeing the writing on the wall that ANY conference where it's not equal membership is going to fail, and they're going to end up where ever that is. Maybe that's B12, maybe that's PACX, maybe it's with Texas, maybe it's without, but they'll end up where it's stable, regardless of where the largest dollars are.

My guess is that Rebecacy was accurate.

The only problem, from the start, was that this would be a monstrous game of chicken between two schools with unbelievably large egos. So large, that they could allow emotion to rule at the moment when their superiority was challenged the most. To call TX's bluff, you'd better be ready to go to the mattresses. Keep in mind, that these two schools have very little at stake. So, really, their playing high stakes poker with all the little guys' money.

If OU wants fairness why don't they simply work toward it at home in the Big XII? I like fairness, I'm sure JP likes fairness. In fact I'm pretty sure most conference partners would like fairness.

Clearly I'm missing something because imo OU has the ability to save the conference right now by assuring the other members that they're here to stay and they intend to stand with other conference members against the bully UT.
