Missouri is really the hoodrat of the Big 12.

I think MU put this out as part of the plan, and on going process, by the conference's strategic team (GG and JP are members) to keep the Big XII together and, most importantly, to speed up that process. Texas's pending decision to stay in the Big XII is depended on their "critical mass teams" remaining in the league. The threat of MU leaving will concern TX and likely speed their decision.Missouri is really the hoodrat of the Big 12.
The only way this happens is if Texas decides it is their own idea.
The plan has been to rescue the Big XII and keep TX (huge value) in as an equal and equitable player. This should be doable and worth trying because we don't think they can go anywhere and have what they have here. And it is the right thing to do, look around at the stable conference models (equity). Now it's crunch time......"you better make up your mind Texas we can't hold this thing together for much longer Texas"....."Just play fair and equally share and we can all benefit from the best (and now stable) conference in football." "If you say no, the conference may fall apart." "Have you completely thought through the impact that will have on your school."It would seems that keeping the Big 12 intact is more in the hands of OU/OSU/KU/MU than in the hands of UT. UT leaving the Big 12 doesn't force those other teams to leave...
You asked earlier if Texas was smart enough to know they had been played. The answer is, of course they are, but the real question was, will they realize it in time?? No they did not.Texas needs to make a move, and very soon. I'm actually starting to feel more positive about this whole situation.
Oh and so much for the SEC saying they wouldn't take another big 12 team. Knew that wasn't going to last.

Rebecacy, either you knew pretty much what was going down or you are the luckiest SOB I've ever seen. Either way, you have been right on this thing. Thanks for your input!
I think he did what most should haev done. He asked why? There is nothing substantial driving this change, other than hurt feelings, and fear of being left out.Rebecacy, either you knew pretty much what was going down or you are the luckiest SOB I've ever seen. I think it was conspiracy all along by OU.

You can see why they did it though. Honestly, I was hoping that was their plan all along.
Getting full approval to go to the PAC and basically being on the doorstep forces UTs hand. If UT really wants to be the big boy in the B12, they have to make concessions. If they want to make concessions to get into the PAC and end up having less power there, they end up being the bad guy who destroyed the B12.
I think the members of the Pac 12 balked at having little sisters OSU and TTU on board.
Beebe needed to be fired weeks ago. Has he even tried to get al the ADs in one room and talk this all out? i don;t think he has. He seems to think sitting on his hands is the way to go. They need to all get together and get this done so we can enjoy the best season in years at ISU.
