I'm not saying we should go add UNI, but I don't really see what top tier program in their right mind would enter a conference with Texas. I don't think we'll get any teams from the Big East to join.

Get 5 or 7 "ISU-like" teams and go with two divisions - the Oklahoma division with OU and the Texas division with UT.

Chip Brown on Miller and Brinson as well:

Says he is surprised at this because of all the money that the new Big XII members will be receiving.

Also says his sources say the A&M Regents will vote in favor of the SEC on Monday.

Says that A&M no longer trusts the Big XII to police the relations between UT and ESPN/LHN.

Says that some Big XII administrators have called this "the dumbest thing" and don't understand this move whatsoever.

Missed some of the interview, but he called it a "sad day for one of the great rivalries in college football". Doesn't see the rivalry necessarily continuing in the future when UT and A&M are in different conferences.

Says he has lost confidence in the Big 12 with 9 members holding together. Has no confidence for ISU/KU/KSU.

Says that he has heard Florida State is the SEC's other target with TAMU.

Says that we are back into full-blown "musical conferences" again beginning with this move.

This isn't a bad thing. The ACC will pluck a Big East school as a replacement...Pitt or UCONN and that opens up a space for four teams in the Big East.

or leaving 7 to be poached?

No, lets just continue plucking teams from the ACC if we want to expand.

They may be just as vulnerable as we are if they take Florida State.

Screw it, let's be the first super. Big 12 owns the rights to the Big 16, time to use it.

BYU
TCU
Cincy
Louiville
West Virginia
Pitt
Air Force

I would be all for this conference. Might trade Pitt and WVU for someone a little closer like Memphis or CSU. Or, UT has been talking with ND...might be time to bring them in and play a minimal amount of conference games so that they can still play a semi-independent schedule.

Sounds like the ACC may get poached. Florida State to SEC. The guy who runs the Scout A&M website, said he heard Duke and North Carolina's names being mentioned with the Big 12......this was per a radio interview on KXNO.

Funny thing, is that that conference is totally connected geographically and covers 3 times zones.

Was he being serious? I don't see them leaving. Big XII basketball would be torture if that happened.

He was serious, and made it sound like the Big East, Big12 and SEC would poach teams teams from the ACC. Who knows...........

I don't buy the whole idea that they would come. I should start there.

If they somehow did come, setting aside all reality on that, it would make things rough, but it doesn't add 4 games with them, just 2.

I assume it would work like it did up until last year. Home-and-home with the teams in your football division, 3 away and 3 at home with the other football division.

Unless we ended up in their division, we'd play, for example, one at UNC and Duke would come to Ames in a given year, then vice versa the next year.

Am I the only proponent for CSU? I think they could add a lot to the conference, in the future that is. I realize we need a top tier program as well, so go reel in BYU as well. Can we really afford to be picky given the situation?

Yeah, probably. CSU adds little to nothing to the table. Small fanbase in a state that cares more about the Broncos than Buffaloes or Rams. Hughes stadium doesn't measure up to Big XII standards. (Only seats 34,400)

If Texas and OU refuse to be in a league with Houston, why in the hell do they keep getting brought up?

For the same reason that Air Force keeps being brought up. Some people don't think logically and fans are just throwing stuff out there. Houston may well be invited but it isn't because Texas wants them in. They may tolerate Houston but if they wanted Houston in, UH would have gotten an invite last year (or when the SWAC exploded).

Think about it. Would we want UNI in the B12? Why legitimize a perceived lower-status rival.

They're going to increase capacity to to 45,000.
