Keep in mind that NU\CU paid much less than was thrown around last year after things were negotiated.

Still, even though they surely wouldn't pay retail on the way out the door, they're not getting out free. Cutting a number that large will leave a huge number left for them to account for.

Makes a person think that the aggies assume the conference will collapse without them, thus putting them in the clear.

Yeah. TAMU's fee would be higher, iirc, as Nebraska\CU made their decision to leave more than one year in advance (before the start of the 2010-2011 school year for a move in the 2011-2012 year). Texas A&M would be leaving with less than one year.

The legislation can't say A&M can't go to the SEC.

I understand that. But the politicians can play hardball with A&M's budget and they most certainly will. You think those politicians give 2 ***** about the students that would be affected by cutting funding? Hell no. Also keep in mind that the State of Texas funded a good portion of Reed Arena for A&M when the Big XII was forming to get A&M to play nice and not attempt to go to the SEC back then. As far as the legislature is concerned.... A&M owes them. Not the other way around.

I haven't been on here all day and don't want to read through 20 pages, so can anybody give me an update?
Or, is everything pretty much the same as last night?

The Legislature last met this January and approved the budget for the next 2 years. They will not meet again until Jan 2013. A&M's budget is set for the next two years.

A&M BOR meeting now on 15th rather than 22nd and has posted their agenda for the meeting. President will be given power to act on A&M's conference alignment.

Texas AD DeLoss Dodds told me the UT staff "is working on 20 names" for possible replacements for Texas A&M.

I don't think we're staying at 9.

The only update I have is it looks like our bball team appears to be playing teams with the ability of a high school JV team...

The Texas Legislature Committee on Higher Education set a meeting date of Aug. 16 to discuss A&M's proposed move to the SEC, this after A&M set a Board of Regents meeting for the 22nd. After the Legislature set its meeting date, the TAMU BoR moved their meeting up to this Monday, August 15 at 3 p.m. On the agenda is the item to give the president of aTm the sole authority to take any and all action regarding athletic conference affiliation.

The SEC presidents are meeting on Sunday in regards to expansion.

This is moving about as fast as Nebraska's move to the Big Ten did. Expect the SEC to issue an invitation on Sunday, A&M will approve it on Monday afternoon and by Monday evening Texas A&M will announce its membership in the SEC.

I'm glad the UT staff is working on this, as opposed to the conference staff. :skeptical:

Not sure I like that. Just furthers the aura of the arrogance of Texas and the notion that they run the league. UT staff is working on finding a replacement? Why not the Big 12 as a collective work on that? The latter is probably what is happening, but I don't like the wording of this.

You complain that the conference isn't being proactive, and then when they say they are looking at being proactive, you complain about that. Very troll-like.
