Worth a Laugh

Who is this guy (besides a board member)? Why do we care?

He looks like a real piece of work, regardless. Must be a bit shifty...

lol it's really not normal to have that many people sue you in your life. wtf mates

Sounds like a guy who likes to point the finger and make a lot of excuses.

Does anyone else find it funny that an attorney rang up $9,225 in bills for an unpaid car lease case involving $7,777.19.

Say what you want about ********, the guy hasn't taken the easy way out and declared bankruptcy. I don't like the guy but you have to respect that.

I just thank God that my kids won't be in the Des Moines School system.

This guy gives hypocritcal blow-hards a bad name.

I will agree with him that the DM schools are a mess. That is one reason we will not move to DSM proper, we will stay in the 'burbs. And it is cool that he is being responsible for it and not just declaring bankruptcy like most people would do.

I'll keep my comments quiet since they're pretty deep but I'm glad we're on our own and not dealing with certain individuals. It's nice he hasn't just given up and gone through bankruptcy but he also hasn't learned how to deal with people and how to do things the right way to get things done productivly.

Case in point - You can't get on the school board with all guns blazing against the people you have to try to convince to reason with you. How can you expect to institute change if you're just trying to play to the cameras instead of actually working behind the scenes to find new ways of getting things done? Obviously the board is inept and corrupt but you can't go out there and try to **** them off at the starting gate when you need to get their votes to institute actual changes.

Anyways - please keep this thread as clean as possible so we don't have to deal with any legal issues.

I think this comment from the Register's feedback sums it up pretty well...

While the timing is interesting....."It is what it is" - meaning the financial trouble and lawsuits ******** repeatedly finds himself in.

I love the idea of someone rocking the establishment's boat a little to create change. But, this guy now has a huge credibility gap. He was a breath of fresh air....now it's just the same old "hot air" all politicians blow.

If you talk the talk, walk the walk. Obviously he didn't in his personal life. Now it has crippled him and damaged his credibility in his public life.

If you go through a campaign as a person of moral integrity and speek about inacting change, you can't be somebody that has repeatedly been in the same situations you campaigned against. That's called hypocrisy and it's meaning has now been well defined.

By the looks of the article. He can't affford to pay an attorney anyway.

For some reason when I hear him talk I imagine Al.

Makes me glad I don't live in Des Moines. Then again, living in Davenport, it has its own bowl of problems (after all, we have a city government that's willing to spend $7 million on a skybridge that leads to nowhere, yet street repair and street widening - because traffic in Davenport is horrible on a daily basis - isn't a priority). Makes me glad that we're moving to Eldridge in January, even if I have to pay the 1% school district surtax.

He he! Ripvdub is from Davenport.... His dad/bros/sis' still live there. That place is going down hill and FAST! Not that I believe it was ever "uphill!"

Really - which HS did he graduate from and when?

As far as it going downhill, it's hard to go downhill when you're already in a valley. It's like Peanut (Jeff Dunham's puppet) always says, "Polish a turd, it's still a turd..."

I mean the Quad City area is pretty nice, but when it comes to Davenport and Rock Island, as far as quoting Peanut again, when someone says "Welcome to hell... WE'RE ALREADY HERE!!!"

So much irony here. Really. I kinda pity the guy.

But mostly, I'm glad we're not at all linked with him.

He went to West. Graduated in 96. Older sister graduated in 94. Little ones go to catholic middle school and then Central.
