That's fine. But, just so everybody knows, we are doing this on a sailboat in the middle of the Indian Ocean. We gotta make this interesting!
True, but it was patriotism that fueled it, instead of alcohol and booze. So at least we got that going for us, which is nice (Caddyshack anyone?).
You're right, but waving the American flag and singing the national anthem sure as hell do. I'm sure there were a few people who were just out there because of the "mob mentality", but don't try and denigrate a group of student's patriotism just because it doesn't align with your particular views.
This didn't occur on a Friday night with a bunch of drunk idiots at a house party. This occurred (at ISU at least) late on a Sunday night before the beginning of finals week.
You have got to be kidding me. This man took how many lives? Why don't you walk up to the soldiers that fight for their lives every day so you can post on here and tell them this. Then while you're at it why don't you go tell this to one of the thousands of families who lost family members to this SOB.

I guess you weren't there then. Wherever there were dumpster fires or couches they were probably out of control, but if you were there you would have realized how patriotic the demonstrations really were.
This was NOT a party that got out of control. Unless you were there, you really can't say what this was or wasn't. There was a dumpster that got lit on fire, that means one group of 2 or three people decided to be stupid and do that. That is not surprising to me in a crowd of that size. But like I said this wasn't a party that got out of control at all, this was a gathering fueled by Patriotism! And to say that we were to young to understand it is not a fact. I'm a freshman this year, I was 10 when it happened, and I still remember everything about that day. This was not an angry mob this was not a riot, and unless you were there I don't think you can accurately say something about what it is or isn't. (not that most people won't)
My question remains: if you put side by side images of Ames (or any other demonstration at a college town) last night and an image of a major Middle Easten city celebrating the death or some type of violent conflict of some cause they find justified-- would you notice a difference?
As difficult as it is, I always preach love and forgiveness. I am not going to talk bad about the military or protest against them, but I never asked anyone to go kill people for my freedom. My freedom is not worth the price of another person's life.
This I will agree with. My freedom on the other hand very much is, especially if that life is a low-life, murderous scum bag.
Dude....or dudette, I suppose.......they want to kill us. If they have it within their capabilities to do so, they will. They don't need a special occasion.
That sounds great, until some terrorist gets ahold of you and decapitates you and posts it on the internet.

Well I didn't see any burning flags, guns or propaganda. I did see a bunch of singing, chanting, smiling, happy people that seemed to be enjoying themselves. I'm fairly certain I could have been able to tell a difference between the two, but in that respect I am also able to tie my own shoes and use a toaster effectively so maybe that puts me at an advantage over some.
