Speculation that Osama Bin Laden killed

I'm personally saddened by this news. I know 9/11 was a great tragedy, but this killing of Bin Laden will not help anything. We are now on higher alert for a retaliation. You cannot stop violence with more violence. This will only instigate terrorists more, and we can expect them to retaliate soon, and we will have another tragic event. Fight violence with over-the-top love and peace.

PRace through superior fire power...AND the willingness to use it. We've been ignoring the last part for a while.

Let the world know that we will exist in peace with them until the end of time...But F with us and you won't live to see the next sun rise.

I'm all for peace and love as an overall philosphy... but in this case, I love that Osama is dead, and I hope his body is in pieces.

Killing Osama isn't going to encite anyone to attack America (or England, or Spain, or France, etc) who doesn't already want to. Osama is a murderous terrorist who has killed people of all ethnicities for decades, moderate Musliams won't shed a tear for him.

Things have been relatively peaceful in America lately, but I guarantee you that will change because of this. Now I'm going to have to worry more about my safety than before.

with all due respect, who do you think we're dealing with? while i would love more than anything to see this idealistic view win out, the reality of it is not possible. we're not dealing with rational thinkers. they believe we're evil and will stop at nothing to destroy us - i'm sorry, we can't defend ourselves with 'love and peace'.

I know it's on a bigger scale with this, but have you ever seen Les Miserables? The only reason he turned his life around was because that priest did not react with revenge but he undermined him with love.

Peace will never come through superior fire power.

bin Laden managed to make it for 10 years, and spent a good portion of that time living it up in a mansion. And on top of that, his kidneys were going to kill him before too much longer anyway. We didn't deprive him of a whole lot.

Brennan really spelled out the "leadership qualities" of Bin Laden really nicely:
1) Living comfortably.
2) Living far from the area of operations.
3) Hiding behind women.
4) Expecting others to sacrifice for his livelihood.

Nice work from this guy. Really enjoying his press conference.

I couldn't agree more, I have no sympathy for this guy. I do however not see the reason for celebrating in the streets. The war isn't over, his role in modern day terriorism is nothing what it once was, nothing is different than yesterday and people make a mockery of things they have stood up for morally/politically by making a spectacle of his death.

I agree with the celebrating portion. We should not be celebrating like this. What if we saw videos of them celebrating the death of one of our leaders? That would make us incredibly angry and want to take revenge on them. There have been videos of Muslims celebrating over violence, and it makes us angry. It just makes the situation worse.

Cyclonemaniac u are more the welcome to travel to afghanistan or Pakistan and see how far peace and understanding will get you.

what do you think they were doing on 9/11?

I think your belief that you are less safe today than you were with Osama Bin Laden alive yesterday is incorrect. I don't think there is any factual basis to support your theory that cyclonemaniac7 now has to worry about his safety any more than last week.

And in reality, you were/are exponentially more likely to be killed in a car accident or in any number of other freak accidents than by terrorism. So cheer up, I think your fear is unjustified!

Have you not seen the safety measures that are being put in place today because of his death? We are obviously on higher alert now.

And what did Americans think of that?

There are a million different ways to look at it, but essentially, it comes down to one thing in my opinion, He Started it and he started it using American civilians as the bombs. Please don't equate their dancing to the result of 9/11 to our celebrating a little justice.

They were celebrating the death of thousands of innocent people.
We are celebrating the death of one man who killed thousands of innocent people.

You do realize that those people in the Middle East who celebrated saw those thousands of people in the same evil light that we saw bin Laden, right? They felt equally justified.

It has to stop somewhere. We don't have any control over those people. We can only control ourselves, which is why when we can do something to stop the cycle, we should do it.

It's hard to argue that he started it. He was upset about previous events. I'm not justifying what he did, but we are partly to blame as well.
