Please don't. ISU would get its arse pounded into oblivion if it was our school that was caught in this scenario (yeah, I know, sarcasm.)
See, I was always under the impression that he was telling MSU that the money they were offering was just too much, but I probably misinterpretted that. In these cases I just have a large amount of trouble taking someones word on this. I feel this was brough to attention because someone from MSU was sour that they missed out on the potential Heisman winner. It doesn't make anything right or wrong but when a school who is in the same conference and recruits the same guy then come back and incriminated themselves to make Auburn look bad, it really makes me wonder about their credibility.
"The NCAA released its finding in a statement Wednesday. The college sports governing body had concluded on Monday that a violation of Newton's amateur status had occurred. Auburn declared Newton ineligible on Tuesday and requested his eligibility be reinstated. Newton has been cleared to compete without conditions. . . . Said Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs: "We are pleased that the NCAA has agreed with our position that Cam Newton has been and continues to be eligible to play football at Auburn University. We appreciate the diligence and professionalism of the NCAA and its handling of this matter."
So, on the one hand Auburn declares him ineligible, then they also claim that he is eligible. Why declare him ineligible if you think he is eligible? It only makes sense if you are posturing yourself so that you appear to be complying and taking a hard line that the NCAA softens.
I'm from Chicago and the Daley Machine couldn't do a better job of manipulating the system. Everything the NCAA gained by penalizing Bush just got reversed. This is such a crock, but an extremely well-played crock. Too bad it isn't going to work. Once the season is over, the NCAA will conclude its investigation and come down on him, but not during the season. Sissies. I can't believe how complicit the NCAA seems in this.

Auburn allowed someone to play when they had evidence that he was ineligible. That makes them complicit in his ineligibility. Auburn seems like it is trying to cover itself by "declaring him ineligible" which is what they should have done as soon as they discovered the matter.
I'm waiting to hear from Charles Barkley. Seriously, he is a straight shooter. I would expect him to see right through this. Unfortunately for Cam Newton (and great for Chizik), Auburn and his dad have screwed a great athlete. He will land on his feet in the NFL.
Now, what about all those other guys, like the ISU players, who get screwed (not "reinstated") by the NCAA? They are the ones who can't land on their feet like Newton will in the NFL.
Jay Jacobs is a slimeball. Isn't it funny how on Tuesday Auburn finally figured out that Cam Newton was ineligible and they declared him so when this information has been out there for almost a year now? The NCAA absolutely let them off of the hook. Auburn is a very dirty program and they know exactly how to play the game. GC was the perfect hire as he isn't smart enough to figure out that when the FBI and the NCAA figure out what is going on down on the plains that he is going to be the one taking the fall all by himself.
My question is this: Why would the FBI get involved unless there is something more serious than NCAA violations going on. To me, it seems like this might end up being about more than football.
Supposedly there's a LOT more going on with Auburn and Lowder than just NCAA violations. So bad that Auburn's accreditation may be on the line. Auburn loses it's accreditation - goodbye SEC. Like the Big 10, the SEC is more than just an athletic conference.
SO Auburn no is involved with money laundering, fixed slot machines, and fraud. Nice. Down with Bobby Lowder. It couldn't happen to a better guy.
I ask because I haven't read the tigerbait thing and probably won't. I glanced at it and it was too long to justify spending time away from grad school to read. I barely have enough free time to read this board, much less that one.
I don't think the NCAA is looking to ruin Auburns potentially perfect season based on unproven accusations. What if they suspend him, and find out that none of this is true?
Once Newton is in the NFL, the family has nothing to lose by admitting they asked for and received the money. So I'm guessing sometime about a year from now, when he's on an NFL team, is when we find out if they got the $200k.
Auburn has everything at stake here, if they get busted cheating, I smell the death penalty. It'll be the greatest Chizz of all time.

As someone mentioned earlier... "shopping" your kid around without his knowledge is still a violation and makes him ineligible.
I do think the NCAA doesn't want to rule their glamour boy Heisman trophy winner ineligible and risk losing a lot of money on the National Championship, etc. They will wait a few years and "Reggie Bush" him IMO.
With this ruling, there will be all kinds of parents bidding their kids out to the highest bidder. All they have to say is that their kid didn't know they were doing it and it's fine with the NCAA. Good grief.

We can't even get Royce approved to play.....but all this **** goes down and Newton gets reinstated.....what a joke! I guess if Auburn allegedly raised the $200K+ to pay his dad, the NCAA payoff fund was probably pretty easy to come up with.....:skeptical:
The NCAA has a number of concerns. Being fair, consistent, and taking care of the student athletes are not one of them.
