Our recruiting is awful right now

Nevada isn't in the Big12 and doesn't have to compete against Big 12 athletes on a weekly basis.

"Dont let the AQ idea blur your vision cause remember what happened last night"

Like I said, a young fan. Save the 12 year old one liners for your boyfriend, don't waste my time.

Oh, the classic age elitist. Listen, I don't care how old you are, you don't know anything about recruiting and specifically recruiting to a program who has never done anything. You haven't seen any of our commits play and it would surprise me if you have even watched their video.

People like you are precisely the reason we struggle with resources. You constantly ***** even though you know nothing about what you are talking about, recruiting specifically. DO have a clue why those guys don't have a bunch of offers? Because most of them were early commits. After someone commits early, especially someone like the type of player we get, they will not get a bunch of offers. Both Sam Richardsens had a fair amount of BCS interest. Ecby has had the same. Lampkin last year the same. Either FSU or UF wanted Johnson to play defense. Standard had BCS offers. I think Nelson did. Dika had a Utah offer. How long would you like me to go. The fact of the matter is that you have no idea what their actual offers and interest levels are. You just go to your little rivals site every once in awhile, take a look, figure it is all gospel truth and then come here and ***** about recruiting. This may come as a shick but rivals doesn't know everything. I would say they are 75% accurate on offers or potential offers. We have to go get the top tier teams second choices before they do. They will come knocking if the player isn't locked down.
I am certainly not the first to say this but, I think ISU looks for recruits to jump on and lock down before anyone else can get them. Or look for recruits that the OU and Texas' of the world didn't quite make their standards (David Sims). ISU has to either train up local guys, or sweep in on under valued talent.
In all reality ISU shouldn't be getting the 4 and 5 stars of the world YET. 3-5 years and steady wins down the line then probably. Sorry I just replied to you because I thought it would add in nicely with your statement.

That was my basic point.

I think the fact that these kids are already committed before October speaks volumes. Coaches do not reach with recruits before October. They have to really like the kid as an athlete, a football player, and a person. We may not have all the resources in the world to recruit, but we have plenty. I, for one, am ecstatic that we have this many guys that the coaches wanted so early.

The coaching these kids receive 4-5 years on campus is far more important than the number of offers they have prior to stepping onto campus. Just look at Minnesota and Illinois the last few years - very solid recruiting, not so much on the playing field.

Back when I was your age.....

That line never gets tired. Our class looks great to me all things considered. Its not what BSU and Utah are recruiting now that got them to where they are now.

Give me the long list of recruits that were beating those schools out for?

QFT

And Utah recruits MUCH better than we do, especially in Texas.

I'd guess that 70%+ of UT's roster is from CA.
I'd guess that following that, UT is next for their recruiting base.
3rd would be Texas.

So its a good thing were dead last in the big 12 in recruiting and not even in the top 50?

And save yourself the rivals.com against ISU conspiracy garbage thats sure to come.

yaman get off your tractor you toothless hick, and realize that recruiting kids with offers from UTEP, means three years down the road you can expect ISU to look and play a lot like those type of schools.

I'm amazed at the ignorance of some people on here...

As for the age comment, I'm a middle aged guy (30's) and I'm not criticizing young people in general.

But when you make childish comments like "I save the one liners for your mom", you do nothing but prove my point.

We have more commits at this point than any time in recent memory, and a lot of those kids have good potential. I'll leave it to the coaches to evaluate talent.

Making comments like the bolded above reflects much more on you than anyone you are trying to slam.

What is your point?
Give a solution...
Explain to me the selling point CPR is missing to these 5-Star recruits we should be getting, that selling point to come to the State of Iowa, from places like Tx, Ca, and yes even Oregon...

I'm asking you for a solution, not just complaining...
Btw - if the selling point is so easy, why are you in Oregon, instead of supporting your team in Iowa? -- just saying...

yep and the recruiting services that evaluate these kids NEVER miss.... what about that top 10 class Iowa had a few years ago.... hardly any of them ever played and most left or got kicked off... Kansas went to the Orange Bowl with 2-3 star kids.... these coaches have done enough to gain my trust and I think we're forgetting we were 5-19 the 2 years before they got here... They spoiled us by making it to a bowl game last year which was a miracle in the first place

O and by the way, that All American DE from South Florida named George Selvie, o yeah, he was a 2 star... But you wouldn't have recruited him huh

If we could just get some GOOD offensive and defensive line recruits, everything else will fall into place.

This. I think we saw Saturday night that there is alot of truth to the old adage He who controls the line of scrimmage controls the game.

For several years now, from the end of McCarney's tenure, through Chizik, and into CPR's time, posters who follow recruiting have been lamenting ISU's inability to land good OL/DL recruits (especially DL). We're seeing the effect of that now. Many times their comments get beat down or dismissed, but they are valid. ISU is weak on both lines.

I'm not sure what the difficulty has been in getting good line recruits, but CPR has to turn that around.

Haha, when you have no points you resort to insults. Classic message board stuff there. Again, you don't get the point here, but hey, you live in Oregon so I can't blame you. RIVALS IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT. RIVALS IS NOT ALWAYS UP TO DATE. Do you understand that?
