Our recruiting is awful right now

I continue to worry about the fact that we have very few recruits with good offers.

Beating out UTEP, North Texas and Louisiana Tech caliber schools isn't impressive.

I really think three years from now this will come back to haunt us.

I was looking at Rivals.com

We didn't even crack the top 50 for our 2011 class...and were DEAD last in the Big 12

Colorado has FOUR commits and they have a higher ranked class than our class of 13

At ISU, it's more about developing players rather than being able to grab a bunch of top notch talent. (Although you need talent at a lot of skill positions.)

I agree. There's no reason that we shouldn't be able to compete with the Florida, Alabama and Ohio States of the world. It's not like they have anything that THE Iowa State University doesn't have to offer.

We compete with teams we should, Texas A&M Baylor and Tech and lose to the teams we should OU and Texas.

We really need an influx of JC talent. Anybody hear how the redshirts are looking thus far? I think we are RSing 4 JC guys this year: Caspers, Nelson, Young, and Givens. They should be comparable, if not better, than Alvarez, Parker, Williams, and O'Connell.

Teams like Utah were not built battling for top talent, they were built around one thing and it showed last night in every phase of the game.

KU under the big man always had a bunch of 3 star guys that played some good ball. Coach Mac made some pretty good players out of non-recruited guys, and so will CPR. If we could sneak in a couple of 4 star guys at skill positions, I'd be good with it. It'll be interesting to see where we end up after signing season.

from the many posts i've had based solely on that line... i think its clear that i agree with this statement. However, how many NFL players have we had since 2006? Chiz = bowen, tuba..?... CPR = reggie stephens?

that doesn't exactly scream player development either, but i guess we just have to keeeeep waiiiiiiiting..........

They'll get there. Defense should be improved next year, with more depth. Now if some of them can just get a pass rush on...

We won't be able to judge how well CPR can develop players until about 3 or 4 years.
