Another Justin Hamilton Update

I would rather win zero conference games next year than win 6.

6 conference wins, and your probably not going to any post season, NIT at best. However, if McDermott wins 6 games, it is seen as an "improvement" and he is given another year. If he wins zero, firing him becomes a more apparent option...

Now winning 9 or 10 games in conference, that proves McDermott can be successful, and I may be behind him at that point. I just highly doubt it will happen...

I'm pretty sure its going to take more than 6 Big XII wins for him to keep his job after next year.

I agree totally. This is just like the end of the awful Walden regime. Best thing that could have happened was football going 0-10-1 that last year in order to get a new coach.
Of course, this is my opinion, not a "lecture" to others about how they should think...

If you think he wins 20 games next year you are smoking something. He had the best ISU team this year since our Elite 8 appearance and look what happened. Its called continuity and in 4 years we have never had that. When was the last time three starters playered from one year to the next without leaving the team before or during the season?

I didn't say that we would win 20 games next year. I am just playing the other side to this. Like I have said I can understand fans wanting a guy gone. I can't understand guys cheering for their team to lose so the guy can be gone

For me, I don't want to see another year like the last 4. Another year like previous years, will just mean another extension. And it goes on.
If McD can magically lead us to the NCAA tourney next year, then great.
If not, please don't give me another trademark McD 4 win seasons. I'll take zero wins and McD's walking papers.

I can understand and even somewhat relate to the sentiment of wanting to ISU to lose and lose hardcore next year as it would facilitate McDermott's departure, and I've even had those thoughts run across my head. But when all is said and done my ISU fanhood kicks in and I'd rather see ISU win 20+ games and make the NCAA Tourney or NIT and have McDermott stick around for another year or two as a result than have the program submarine in order to be rid of him.

That being said, considering everything that has happened the last 4 years and what kind of a roster McDermott's going to have next season, I'm just not buying into the unicorns and roses view of this basketball team for next season.
How can you say that. Haven't you been reading posts about Ejim. I know he has never played a college game, but his natural skills should allow him to score 20-30 any night. So natural and raw. And with the great coaching we have. His potential is unlimited. Of couse he could very well be a great player. I think that will come at the school he tranfers to though.

Im rooting for UCLA. Then we could at least say that our transfers go to good programs like Syracuse and UCLA.

You forgot the :jimlad:...

If he goes to Cal or UCLA I am going to be sick
Why? He worked his *** off when he was here. Maybe he was sick of loosing all the time. Some people forget it really sucks to work that hard and not get rewarded. Good for him that he has a chance to go to a great school, and be able to walk off the court with a smile on his face.

I hate to agree with you 85, but I cannot for the life of me picture Hamilton on those two teams, with coaches like Montgomery or Howland.

You use to always agree with me until you started going on your negative ways lately!

I said it in a blog last month, this team will not win ten games next year.

I can't wait until UCLA is making their Final 4 run in two years and we get to hear "The Iowa State transfer, Justin Hamilton" 6 times a day throughout the month of March again.

Oh well.
