Another Justin Hamilton Update

I guess I never received the official Iowa State fan rule book. Can you please provide me with a link?

What, HR never gave you the handbook? Don't worry, it's pretty short, I'll run it down for you:

1) Know you're in for a tougher ride than a lot of other sports fans. That said, when ISU wins, it's that much sweeter.

2) Be gracious after a victory, honorable after a defeat.

3) Support the athletic department & university as much as you can.

4) Never cheer for the Cyclones to lose.

There you go. The more you know!

Yesterday, some rumors began to surface here on the site that Justin Hamilton was thinking about coming back to Iowa State next season.

I've been told by a very reliable source that there is "no truth" to these rumors at all and that there is no chance he'll be a Cyclone next season.

Just passing along the info. With the story that came out regarding Hamilton's transfer possibilities today, this shouldn't be too surprising.

Thanks for the Info Chris Take care my friend.....

Accelerates McDermott's exit. Some, myself included, don't believe he will ever be successful here. I feel the sooner he is gone, the sooner we can get back on track with a successful basketball program. I also feel the longer he is here, the more work it will take for the next person who is the head of this basketball program. For the sake of ISU Athletics, I feel that the sooner McDermott is gone, the better off the program will be. Anything that gets him out of here faster, in my opinion, is a good thing.

So IF he wins 20 games next year will you be mad? I understand wanting a coach fired but I don't get wanting to see the program you cheer for lose.

And sadly since he leads this disaster of a program, I want them to fail miserably next year. Don't challenge my loyalty! It's only for the best.

I wonder if McDermott has this much trouble keeping friends? There must be something wrong with him personally, I do not like to question a man's character, but he must have issues and they must be major.

20 wins next year would mean he probably wins 7-9 conference games. I stated in my pot that I believe he will never be successful while at ISU. If he wins at least half the conference games next year, my opinion may change.

That being said, I would be SHOCKED if we won 20 next year...

I don't get it either. Its as if some people will be mad next if we make the NCAA tournament.

Well even if we make the NCAA tournament they know that Greg can't get it done here so why delay what is going to happen? Right? That logic is so hard to argue with :wideeyed:

Whatever it takes to get rid of Mac is good for the program. If it means losing a couple of games, why the heck not. In the long run it could only mean more wins. It's an investment. You give up some money today, to get more in the future.

Absolutely not. Like I said, that will mean that he can/may be successful here at ISU. I want McDermott to succeed in the worst way, I just cant logically come to the conclusion that he ever will.

BINGO!

Because these people are more concerned about being cool on a message board or bragging about awesome they are instead of winning games...They would rather be able to say " I told you so" than winning some games, sort of pathetic...

You raise a good point. The worst thing that could happen would be for him to win 15 to 18 games next year. Of course I'm hoping for 20+ so that we can have something to cheer about for the first time in a long time and McD can show that he has turned the corner. However, if we're not going to do that (and I don't believe we will), then yes, I hope that we win very few games to turn up the pressure on JP to put an end to this horrendous experiment.

If we have a year of 17-15 with no postseason play, then unfortunately I think that gives JP leeway to claim that there has been improvement and justify yet another year of mediocrity.

I never said it was going to happen but cheering against it is just ridiculous.

I would rather win zero conference games next year than win 6.

6 conference wins, and your probably not going to any post season, NIT at best. However, if McDermott wins 6 games, it is seen as an "improvement" and he is given another year. If he wins zero, firing him becomes a more apparent option...

Now winning 9 or 10 games in conference, that proves McDermott can be successful, and I may be behind him at that point. I just highly doubt it will happen...

I can understand and even somewhat relate to the sentiment of wanting to ISU to lose and lose hardcore next year as it would facilitate McDermott's departure, and I've even had those thoughts run across my head. But when all is said and done my ISU fanhood kicks in and I'd rather see ISU win 20+ games and make the NCAA Tourney or NIT and have McDermott stick around for another year or two as a result than have the program submarine in order to be rid of him.

That being said, considering everything that has happened the last 4 years and what kind of a roster McDermott's going to have next season, I'm just not buying into the unicorns and roses view of this basketball team for next season.

Well then your just not an ISU fan.

If you think he wins 20 games next year you are smoking something. He had the best ISU team this year since our Elite 8 appearance and look what happened. Its called continuity and in 4 years we have never had that. When was the last time three starters playered from one year to the next without leaving the team before or during the season?
