High School Football Issues

I just saw this article on yahoo and it referenced Indianola vs Hoover

https://www.yahoo.com/news/poor-schools-cant-compete-richer-120227608.html

In the first paragraph of the article it says "An hour before kickoff at a game this month at Hoover High School, the opposing football team, Indianola High, pulled up and unloaded the large video monitor that would let its coaching staff analyze plays, moment by moment, throughout the game."

Is this real life? How is a high school team allowed to have equipment on the side lines to watch real time game film? You can't even do this in the college game!!!

Re-al Deal

Tom Manning needs to find a way to get Re-al (deal) Mitchell on the field, and I don't mean in special situation, I mean every series. He's too much of a special athlete to use only in mop up action. Whether as a flanker back taking a reverse with a run pass option, in the wildcat, or even as a dual running back, he needs to be out there. My fear is that if he's not utilized, we'll lose him to transfer.

Time to re-rank the B12 ...

We are starting to get enough actual play to get a reasonable view of what we have in-conference. Here's a ranking plus picks for the weekend.

1. OU - clear favorites - OU (-26.5) bloodies TxT this weekend
2. Texas - good win over Pokes - bye week
3. K-State - Miss State looks better - oSu (-4) starts 0-2 in conference
4. ISU - bounceback - Clones (-2) convert Baptists
5. oSu - front-loaded - game two too
6. Bu - unclear
7. TCU - SMU will prove not a bad loss - Frogs (-16.5) bounce back against Ku
8. WVU - beat Ku - bye week
9. Ku - lose to #8 - lose again in FW
10. TxT - netherworld then Norman

Amtrak travel advice

We're planning on visiting relatives in Utah this December and are considering taking Amtrak. Anyone taken family on the California Zephyr recently? I think we would get a cabin. Travel time would be about 24 hours.

We're also considering driving or flying. Driving would be faster than the train but has a greater risk of delays due to weather. Flights are expensive for two adults and two kids during the times we are looking at.

Big 12 Elimination Competition. Week 1

Last year I subbed in @Omaha Cy and he gave me the go ahead to run it again this year.

Rules-
1- Pick a team each week to win. Submit pick before kick off Central time.
2- If your team wins, you survive. Lose and you're eliminated.
3- After you pick a team, you may NOT pick them again.
4- You may NOT pick AGAINST a team in consecutive weeks.

5- If you submit a team you've already chosen, pick against a team in consecutive weeks, or don't submit a pick for the week....you're eliminated.
6- Last player standing wins. If the final group of players are eliminated the same week, we'll go to the tiebreakers.
7- If you run out of teams to choose from later in the season, you're eliminated.

Each week, you will submit additional picks for tiebreaker purposes.
1: Highest scoring game of the week
2: Team that scores the least points

Tiebreakers:
1- Road wins. Neutral site games count as 1/2 point
2- High score game of the week picks
3-Team that scores the least points

WRESTLING IS ALMOST HERE

Hey guys,

I have been MIA cause I do that during the offseason which is annoying and I should stop doing that. But! I am just here to say I am very excited for this next season to get closer. Once October hits, Media Day will be right around the corner then it's finally our time. I'm ready for wrestling to takeover. My non-wrestling fan friends are probably tired of me talking about how excited I am and how ready I am to get to work.

I have been able to talk wrestling with a few casual fans throughout meeting people at tailgating. It's exciting to see people interested and willing to give the sport and team a chance. Hopefully we'll see that in regards to attendance this season.

I wanted to let ya'll know that with our big new commit I'm putting my ass to work. Him and I have been in contact! He's super nice. Very exciting news for the Cyclones this weekend. I have some ideas cooking for you guys that I am very excited to get rolling and make happen.

Hope you're all doing well and staying busy. I see you're all active as always and on top of things. The usual. Once I get official word of dates and such next month I'll set up a thread for us to discuss what you're wanting from me, expectations you have and any specific questions and topics you want me to focus on. Ya'll know I value everything you guys have to say and your thoughts and ideas.

Have a good week, everybody!
