NFL: ***Official Week 14 Thread***

Starts with Dallas @ Chicago - I think the Bears' win over Detroit last Thursday was probably fool's gold but we'll see. They're catching the Cowboys in the midst of a slump, so you never know.

Baltimore @ Buffalo - This one could be a sneaky good game. I'm still not totally sold on Josh Allen but the Bills are taking what he offers at QB and making it work. They're only one game back of the Pats with the second game of their head to head series still to be played.

San Fran @ New Orleans - Huge playoff implications here. The Saints have locked up the NFC South but the #1 seed is still very much in play for them and the Niners.

KC @ NE - AFC Championship rematch. I can't believe this game didn't land on Sunday or Monday night. The Chiefs have all but locked up the AFC West. If they can go into Foxboro and beat the Pats it puts them back in the hunt for a top two seed and first round bye, and it potentially knocks the Pats into a tie with the Bills if Buffalo can get the upset W over Baltimore.

SEA @ LA Rams - The Rams are showing signs of life again. Could be a shootout.

NYG @ PHI - Maybe your last chance to see Eli Manning in action. Monday night thriller.

Vegas pre-seeds

Some interesting nuggets from ISU standpoint.

49 is a super tough weight. Hope Degen will perform, but a DNP would not be a huge shock to me.

57 Carr should definitely make the semis. Deakin will be another huge test for him.

84 wow, Colbray down at the 8. That puts him against Zahid in the quarters. He’ll have to do his work on the back side.

Mission Impossible

Even though the seasons overlap at times, Peyton Williams of Kansas State is the only Power 5 female in history to achieve 1st or 2nd team all conference awards in both basketball and volleyball. In addition, Ms. Williams has maintained a cumulative 4.0 GPA. She has to be considered the ultimate student-athlete. Can you imagine what her day-timer looks like?

Peloton Ad

So this Peloton ad made quite the splash on social media. According to the article linked below, Peloton stock prices were down as much as 10% after the ad hit. Here is the ad:

and here is an article explaining some of the backlash:

I guess I think it's a dumb ad (who would take a year long video diary and play it back to their spouse about a damn stationary bike?), but I guess I don't find it offensive. Then again, I've been smart enough to stay away from workout equipment as a present for the wife.

Google Fi

Anyone have it? I have been kicking around switching to it as it would likely be a little cheaper but I am worried about coverage. We would also have to buy new phones as we currently have iPhones and it doesn't work as seamlessly with those.

ISU MBB GIF/Video Help!

Cyclone MBB video/gif historians unite!

I was having a discussion with someone following a high school game last night, and I was trying to tell them when DeAndre Kane did the inbound pass off of Woodbury to score a few years back. I wanted to show them the video of it but I can't find it.

So, knowing how much everyone loves seeing that play on a loop, I figured I'd ask for all of your help. Thanks!

Insider Information Weekly Mailbag 12-04-2019
Presented by…Flex Seal-If it can stop a boat with a screen door from sinking, it can Surly stop the run. Apply liberally to defensive line, set it, and forget it!

@Sigmapolis asked last Wednesday: You guys still think the starting lineup is not going to change after today?
Pants:
It depends on Jake. He’s been a disappointment this season so far. If he can’t get back into his groove, I could see Prohm going back to a 4/1 lineup with Solo being the starting big.
GTO: I bet we still see the same starting lineup for the next game, but will start working more of that four guard lineup as the season goes on. Prohm is about as likely to change lineups as he is to go from chapstick to carmex. I would actually like to see Solo and Conditt on the floor together at times and see how that works as opposed to Solo and Jacobson.

@BCClone asked: If you were a pron star what would have been your screen name?
GTO:
Let me just start by stating that the most creative male pornstar name I’ve seen is Michael J. Cox. Which one would I be? Probably D*ck Dastardly.
Pants: Isn’t it the name of your first pet and the street you grew up on?Chester East.

@CyArob asks: Side note, why is this the first time I've opened one of these threads?
Pants:
Taking applications for guest speakers.
GTO: Mama, life has just begun.

@cmjh10 with his usual obsession: Are we back to ending the football program?
GTO:
Burn it down and then, from the ashes, build up a futbol powerhouse. The real football.
Pants: Burn it all down. I mean, we almost lost to Drake and UNI. Total disaster and embarrassment to the university.

@BCClone asks: If you could hang with Bill and Ted for a day and bring back one person to our current time to give a speech, presentation or what have you, who would that person be?
Pants:
Probably the easy answer, which is MLK Jr.
GTO: John F Kennedy’s speech about filming the moon landing in a Hollywood Studio because it was easy, not because it was hard. Or something like that.

@BCClone again: Please give us quick run down on the upcoming cyclone swimming and diving team and season?
GTO:
They’re going to get wet and and go deep.
Pants: Swimming and diving was actually the first sport I covered when I wrote for the Daily. Women’s swimming and diving, then softball, then I did some feature pieces for football and eventually became a weekly sports columnist alongside Brent Blum, who made me look absolutely awful because he was really, REALLY good at it.

@cmjh10 asks a question which would make @jsb proud: Strictly from a fan experience, which teams did/do you enjoy watching more, Hoiberg or Prohm?
Pants:
Hoiberg. Not that I don’t like Prohm or his teams. I just loved the combinations of the style and the personalities we had at the time. I still find myself thinking “Fred would have been so pissed” when I see someone take a jump shot from just inside the three point line (Shayok did that quite a bit last year).
GTO: I think the Hoiberg teams were more exciting. The offense was so explosive that you could never count them out in any games. Also, the lack of defense made for some tight, stressful finishes. Prohm is better at maintaining a lead, but also less likely to make a huge comeback in a game.

More love for Lazard

https://www.acmepackingcompany.com/...a-state-packers-aaron-rodgers-new-york-giants

Nice article about Lazard's rise to prominence in the Green Bay offense. As befits an Iowan and a Cyclone, it sounds like Allen has done things the right way (no hok references, please!) to get where he is today.

As a longtime Packer fan, Lazard has taken on the role Randall Cobb previously had - slot receiver, but also the guy who, when the play breaks down, can find a spot where he is open and Rodgers can get him the ball. So much fun to watch as a Cyclone fan, and a Packers fan.

On That Note - Goo Goo G'Joob

Happy December,

Welcome to another posting about music from the guys at On That Note. We are @CycloneRulzzz, @cyclones500 and me. We take turns posting topics hoping to generate music interest and responses from the Cyclone Fanatic family.

This week we are looking for the nonsense lyrics. Those meaningless syllables the older generation made fun of back in the day - because rock and roll was throwaway pop music. Those may include songs that have the nonsense syllables making up all or part of the song title as well.

Last week's topic was timed in conjunction with Thanksgiving and included songs with lyrics or titles contain the word "Thanks" or variations thereof. It can be found right here on the world wide web by clicking this link

https://cyclonefanatic.com/forum/threads/on-that-note-giving-thanks.253106/

Thinking a little wider here, I guess we can go ahead and include nonsense band names and album titles. These two examples might get your thought processes going on that tangent:

Band Name - Kajagoogoo
Album Name - Ummagumma (Pink Floyd)
