Zion Griffin

If there is one player that can change the trajectory of this season, I believe it's Zion Griffin. He's got good size and athleticism, the four-star credentials, and last game, he started to show his ability to knock down the three-point shot--something that is desperately needed on this team. I really hope this is one of the lineup changes Prohm makes against OU. Start giving him significant minutes, and start feeding him the ball and building his confidence. Somebody on this team has to start stepping up on the offensive end, and I believe he is our best candidate.

PODCAST: George Wares on ISU Football/expectations going forward

I really think you guys are going to enjoy this new series. My friend George is a hall of fame softball coach and a diehard Iowa State fan. I think he can give us all a different perspective on things. These will be short but well thought out. Enjoy!

A Beilein to Success!

A third approach here, with two angles.
Let's assume that John Beilein is fired by the Cavs, giving us the chance to offer him redemption Norman Dale style, one last ride to glory.

We can ask him to buy out Prohm with his NBA buyout, but that probably won't fly.
So, because someone brought it up and it's fun, we turn the ped bridge money into Beilein money and bring that guy right in. We know he can evaluate talent, scheme, and win.

So, option #3.

Friday OT #2 - Permanent Vacation

We apparently have about six inches of snow coming to mid-Iowa, so let's put that aside and think of better things.

What is your "vacation mode?" Are you looking to relax on a beach? Stay super busy? Just drink your whole way through? Go see historical sites? Are you Vacation Type A, or Vacation Type B? Do you have any family/friends/significant others with whom you travel - do they match your vacation mode?

I am very, very Type A. I set up a heavily-packed itinerary of all of the best things to do in any place we go - just in case we never make it back, I want to get every second I can out of it. I don't relax particularly well (I like to have a project or mission), so I like to plan everything out... even relaxing. Janny likes to do some stuff - but he's waaaaaaay more Type B than I am. He ideally wants to sit on a beach with a drink in his hand, maybe leaving for a few activities/sites, but not many.

Friday OT #1 - Fashion (Turn to the Left)

I was looking through some of my clothes in storage last night, and found The Sweatshirt. I've had it since high school - it was a big, boxy men's large Eddie Bauer sweatshirt that I bought when I was all of about 95 lbs my senior year. I loved it despite it being ridiculously oversized on me - it got me through college, boyfriends, breakups, illnesses, and more. It is frayed and has holes all over it from where my pet rabbit I had would nibble on it, and I will never throw it away. My best friend had bought one just like it to match, and hers is in a similar state of disarray. Anytime I put it on (which is rare, as it's now a little too fragile for heavy use), my family all shakes their heads and mocks me, and I take a selfie and send it to my best friend, who does the same thing in reverse.

Do you have any beloved pieces of clothing or attire with which you will never part? How beaten up are they, how old? Where do you keep them - in storage? Have a quilt made out of them? How much do they drive others crazy? (Extra points for photos.)

OT: 1917

Just out of 1917. It's great. Truly great. Yet at the same time I was a tad underwhelmed. I went in thinking this was THE war movie that will be so good and ends up winning best picture. Maybe expectations too high. Went in thinking it would be 100/100 score. But I'd give it 85/100...which is still great. One of the best of the year no question but was hoping for more.

I don't see it winning best picture either. Best director and cinematography for sure. I also think Dunkirk was better. Sue me.
