I was looking through some of my clothes in storage last night, and found The Sweatshirt. I've had it since high school - it was a big, boxy men's large Eddie Bauer sweatshirt that I bought when I was all of about 95 lbs my senior year. I loved it despite it being ridiculously oversized on me - it got me through college, boyfriends, breakups, illnesses, and more. It is frayed and has holes all over it from where my pet rabbit I had would nibble on it, and I will never throw it away. My best friend had bought one just like it to match, and hers is in a similar state of disarray. Anytime I put it on (which is rare, as it's now a little too fragile for heavy use), my family all shakes their heads and mocks me, and I take a selfie and send it to my best friend, who does the same thing in reverse.

Do you have any beloved pieces of clothing or attire with which you will never part? How beaten up are they, how old? Where do you keep them - in storage? Have a quilt made out of them? How much do they drive others crazy? (Extra points for photos.)

My good luck 1995 NFL MVP Brett Favre t-shirt. Whenever the Packers need a big win, I wear it. (You can practically see through it.)

The vixen has begged me to get of rid of it, and of course I just laugh at her.

About once a year, my wife plays, "What not to wear" with my closet so very little sentimental stuff is kept.

I do have a t-shirt I keep in the bottom of a dresser drawer that looks something like this:

My roommate at the time brought it back for me after he took a trip to New York. It was signed by the proprietors of the souvenir store, Sirajul and Mujibur. Anybody who used to watch the old, sort-of-unpolished Late Night with David Letterman show should know about this stuff.

My husband has a couple of t-shirts from a band with whom his youngest brother sang while he was in high school. They have giant holes in them in awkward places, and I hate when he wears them anywhere outside of our physical confines of our house (even the yard), but I don't even think of throwing them away because they mean so much to him!

I'm pretty sure Janny would do something with my Favre t-shirt that would ruin it forever. (Think bathroom.)

Funny this topic just came up because I did some sorting and cleaning out of some storage spaces in our house over the holiday break. I came across one of my totes of college stuff and I still have a "Larry Ball" t-shirt and a red Adidas turtleneck I had bought during my college days when Eustachy was coaching and just don't see a reason to get rid of either even though I probably will never wear either ever again.

I have an Aerosmith concert T from about 87 (permanent vacation tour). In pretty good shape. Also couple old HS sweatshirts. I found out I have every old HS game and practice jersey because a teacher told me that my youngest took them for show and tell in Kindergarten. Apparently they were stuffed in a bag in the basement. I had an old practice jersey that I wore from 7-12, gave it to my oldest when he started in 5th and by the end of his sophomore year it was destroyed. Boys think it’s cool have ones from a school that doesn’t exist anymore.

Otherwise the wife had tossed everything else out.

I still have a Tball hat from about 2nd grade. Don't wear it or anything but I doubt I ever get rid of it.

The absolute only saving grace for you may be that Favre eventually went to the Vikings. :D

6th grade long sleeved flag football shirt...was huge at the time and fits perfect now. 24 years old and counting.

I have tee shirts (multiple) from before most of you were born. Literally.

The one that best fits this topic was from a trip to SoCal, I believe 1983. Went with my next younger brother - we used to vacation a lot together back in the day. We took a day trip on the ferry from Long Beach to Avalon on the Island of Catalina. We both bought tee shirts. No particularly localized design, just a tropic mono-chromatic scene on a navy blue cotton tee.

His is long gone and mine got well worn, but seemed like every time I did wear it he would comment, "You still have that?!"

Cleaning out the house last summer I found it in a box of old clothes so had to put it on (holes everywhere) and do the selfie thing and send it to him.

I still have this plain dark blue t-shirt that I was wearing when I first met my wife on the sand volleyball courts north of Beyer. I wore it even when it had a couple holes because it was soft and super comfy.

For the longest time, my wife wanted to toss it. So, of course, I had to hide it. Several holes later, I finally retired it and was going to throw it out, but my wife confiscated it and now wears it as a night shirt.

We have made two t-shirt quilts with some shirts that had sentimental value. One for our daughter and one for us. My intramural shirt will live on in infamy!

I don’t wear them anymore, but I haven’t been able to bring myself to get rid of all of the concert T-shirts from high school. Rancid, Goldfinger, The Urge (x2), MU330... it was a very short, specific era.

I forgot that I have a 92/93 intramural champ shirt still. Have it to just prove to my son I won one (since he’s at ISU now)

Are the holes strategically placed?

I'll try to find a picture of it, but my mom made me a quilt of all of my high school t-shirts that I liked. Fits a queen size bed, nice and warm.

Wife banished it to the guest room closet and made us get a duvet. I hate the duvet with the fire of a thousand suns, but alas, it is what it is.
