I have young kids and am looking at getting one. I’ve never had one or installed one but I’m moderately handy and am willing to tackle it. I wouldn’t get one but with everything going on I doubt pools will be open this summer (that’s a separate debate of course).

Any advice would be appreciated. Looking for more installation advice but what kind of pool would be awesome too. I’m not looking to spend a ton of dough on one, that’s for sure. I’m guessing others might be in the same boat which is reason for starting this thread.

What would you give up this year for ISU football to play and make it to Dallas in December. I would stay away from JTS all year and not use my tickets. (admittingly they are cheap seats) I would even stay away from tailgating.

Des Moines University selling its original campus presents an interesting opportunity for a small satellite campus. If not a satellite campus, perhaps now is a good time to consider expanding ISU's presence with a larger space in downtown Des Moines.

Thoughts?

Avoid satellite campuses at all costs? Shun physical buildings and focus on an online future? Potentially intriguing investment?

BTW, this conversation can go beyond the DMU property. I'd be interested in hearing general opinions on a true Des Moines satellite campus.

Perhaps, rather than a campus, a standalone, upscale building would be more appropriate? (Think University of Chicago's Gleacher Center just north of the Loop)

Reading like crazy in this era of COVID-19. Needing some good suggestions for mystery/suspense/thriller/horror books. I'm not needing Stephen King/Dean Koontz suggestions...I read all of theirs when they are released.

Thoughts?

If anyone is looking for some books (not just of the thriller/horror genre)...

• No Exit by Taylor Adams is a great little page-turner/suspense book. Rights have been snatched up for a movie already. I'd give it an A-.
• The Fourth Monkey by J.D. Barker is first book of a serial killer trilogy. Read it in just a couple of days. I'd give it a B+...will read rest of the trilogy.
• Nomadland by Jessica Bruder is a must read especially in the times we are in. Movie will star Frances McDormand and David Strathairn. Easily give this an A.
• Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance...ooph. Another must non-fiction book that's a must read for right now. Amy Adams and Glenn Close will be in movie directed by Ron Howard. Give it an A.
• Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann is another non-fiction that is brutally hard to read. Tells the story of the Osage Indian Murders in the early 20th century which basically birthed the FBI. Scorcese snatched up the rights and is directing DiCaprio and DeNiro. A+ but it's a hard read.

I've got 4 MBB ball posters in good/decent shape (just been rolled up since they got brought home from games) that my wife has asked me to dispose of, but would prefer to not throw them away if someone else would want them. They are:

I just got an Xbox One S from somebody selling it online. It came in the original box, no scratches, great condition, two controllers, and a power cord. I plug it in and turn it on and the console fires right up.

There are no cords to connect the controller (should there be?). And when I put two brand new lithium batteries in... nothing.

Am I missing something? Are there supposed to be cords included, or a very specialized battery for the controllers?

This week we are looking at songs that mention a SPECIFIC dance i.e. Twist, Hustle, Rumba etc. So songs that only include the word 'dance' do not qualify i.e. The Dance by Garth Brooks. The song itself doesn't have to be about the dance, it just has to mention a specific dance in the lyrics.

If name of the specific dance is in lyrics please note them above the audio/video clip.

Of course some examples WILL be about a dance move.

I'm an older gamer that's finally starting to get the hang of this one (got a few solo wins this past week) -but don't really have anyone to play trios/quads with -my 2 sons are only occasionally interested in playing. Stanz & Fitz: Episode 99

I haven't seen this on here, but it looks like Bowens is in the transfer portal. Looks like he graduated in 3 years, and got a medical red shirt his Freshman year, so he will be a grad transfer with 2 to play. I really liked him as a RS Freshman, but his playing time went down last season. Best of luck, Mr. Bowens.
