PDF Software

I am reaching to my CF brethren for advise on a PDF software. On occasion, I receive PDF files that I need to provide notes or markup and forward to others. This is seldom and does not justify the cost to purchase a full version of Acrobot Abode or other completing PDF softwares, but I am yet to find a free downloadable version that does more than just open the fie and let you view it. Would anybody be aware of a free (or close to it) version that would open the PDF and also allow you to add notes/comments to the file? Your recommendations are appreciated.

Backyard Critters

I was in the backyard with the kid and wife two nights ago. It was about 7:00. My wife grabs my arm and points to the gate between our yard and the neighbor's, which was open, and there was an opossum walking through the opening. I texted the neighbor and he came, and over a couple of High Life's he said he was aware of an opossum for some time but just forgot to tell me and it has been under my shed.

This is the first, that I am aware of, opossum I've had in the yard. Should I worry about it or just leave it alone? I am thinking of just leaving it alone and it will leave us alone. On the farm we would just kill it, but suburban Des Moines ain't the farm.

Anyone have experiences with an opossum? What should I do with it?

CCR revival?

So I was just perusing the iTunes Top 100 and what do I see. Not one, not two, not three, but FOUR, count 'em FOUR, CCR songs in the top 100, all originally released in 1968. They included "Have You Ever Seen The Rain," No. 8; "Bad Moon Rising," No. 30; "Fortunate Son," No. 35; and "Down on the Corner," No. 54.

I've tried to look for a reason for this Creedence Clearwater Revival revival, but the only thing I can find that was recent was that John Fogerty was able to buy back his catalog in January and maybe he's re-released some of the songs? He originally relinquished the rights to his songs to get out of his record contract.

Does anyone else have any idea why there would be such a revival of songs from the 60s? I look at the iTunes chart, I wouldn't say frequently, but maybe often is a better word, and I've never seen such old songs on there before.

The only other oddity on the charts I spotted was that Creed also has three songs in the top 100, all from the late 1990s or early 2000s.

RIP: Andy Rourke

A few days late but thought it still warranted a mention. Exceptional bassist for The Smiths.

A pretty beautiful eulogy from Moz:

"Sometimes one of the most radical things you can do is to speak clearly. When someone dies, out come the usual blandishments … as if their death is there to be used. I’m not prepared to do this with Andy. I just hope … wherever Andy has gone … that he’s OK. He will never die as long as his music is heard. He didn’t ever know his own power, and nothing that he played had been played by someone else. His distinction was so terrific and unconventional and he proved it could be done. He was also very, very funny and very happy, and post-Smiths, he kept a steady identity - never any manufactured moves. I suppose, at the end of it all, we hope to feel that we were valued. Andy need not worry about that."

Selling Tailgating RV

Selling our tailgating RV. 1996, only 59k miles. Runs great. 6 brand new tires. Only selling because we now have kids that play HS football so it is hard for us to get up to games on Friday night. Sleeps 6-8. AC, Heat, fridge, freezer, oven, microwave, shower, bathroom. Also has an internal generator and propane tank. $7,000 firm. If you know anyone interested please pass on. I wouldn’t hesitate to get in RV and drive to California and back. It runs great.

No other emojis will be counted.

Unique to the First Four round, seeding is the same for each pairing, so assume the “favorite” is the one listed on top.

Hollywood Higgins leaving the court

It's not explicitly called out in the release, but rumors on twitter are that this new gig will mean John Higgins will no longer officiate games.

It ain't much, but it's honest work

A meme icon and regenerative farming legend Dave Brandt died in a vehicle accident over the weekend.

Why is Matt Campbell still at Iowa State? To reset, rebuild the Cyclones’ magical rise

Today's Athletic article (Subscription required)

“From Day 1, I feel like that’s what they’ve said about this place: You can’t sustain it. It’s not doable,” Campbell said. “The more things change, the more they say it can’t happen. You’ve got to be uncommon here and be willing to do it in an uncommon way. That’s the thing I love about this place. I know this program is really what I believe, or at least how I believe you should run a college football program. We still get to do that here."

EPL Relegation Predictions - 2023

Burnley and Sheffield United are moving up from the Championship, along with the winner of Saturday’s match between Luton Town and Coventry City.

Southampton is guaranteed relegation, but Leicester City, Leeds and Everton are in play for the other two slots. Nottingham Forest would be there but not for an improbable win over Arsenal this weekend.

My prediction: Leicester City loses to both Newcastle and West Ham. Leeds beat Spurs 3-1 and Everton loses to Bournemouth, seeing Everton related from the Premier League for the first time ever!

*** Cyclone Fanatic Sitcom Tournament: Selection Show ***

Welcome to the Cyclone Fanatic Sitcom Tournament Selection Show.

Our committee, (@cyclones500 @Gonzo @cmjh10 and @ImJustKCClone as well as myself) has finalized the field, which we reveal here. The bracket features a wide range of shows from the 1950s through present-day.

Special shout-out to Gonzo as we wouldn't be to this point without his efforts.

(Note: In case you wonder, we decided to not include animated shows. We might save those for a possible future bracket.)

Tournament voting begins later this week. Instead of having a separate thread and poll for every “game,” each round, from play-in to the championship, will have a separate thread. Additional details about the process will be included with each round’s thread.

And now, on to the bracket reveal.
