20/20 Vision Presentation - Future of ISU Athletics - lots of good info.

Starts at about 10 minutes good stuff starts at about 20 minutes in. A lot of info on ISU athletic budget and where it comes from. 48% of the revenue comes from the XII, of that 48%, 60% comes from TV. Going to do whatever it takes to keep Campbell.

Big take away, in 2021 they will probably have to re-index the cyclone club donation levels, meaning they will have to go up. They talk about that starting at about minute 25.

This new video and the details released by Pollard seem to point things in this direction.

One poster has noted that the band led out with their “Sousaphones” which I believe is a nerd word for Tubas. The poster watched many other Iowa band videos and noticed that at no other time were the “Sousaphones” the lead out instrument.

Was this an intimidation tactic being that “sousaphones” are large metal objects?

Do these instruments require wild swinging to be played properly?

Finally found some Javan Johnson Highlights

This was from his Soph year. Even though this was his lesser shooting year out of the two he was at Troy you can really see the potential Coach Prohm and his Staff see in Javan. I think with another year to develops under the Iowa State Coaches this kid will be a killer in the rotation. His game really reminds me of Talley but with a dependable jump shot.

Baylor Hate Week

I know that a lot of crappy stuff has been happening this week, but let's not let them distract us from the terrible program that Baylor is. They still have yet to fully own up to their atrocities against women and are just a douchey program all around. Their egos have been over inflated due to a few years of success under Briles. Their fans are dicks and the brawl exemplifies their values. As the Iowa State program (hopefully) continues to rise under Campbell, I am confident that our fan base will not lose our humility and good nature.

Amtrak travel advice

We're planning on visiting relatives in Utah this December and are considering taking Amtrak. Anyone taken family on the California Zephyr recently? I think we would get a cabin. Travel time would be about 24 hours.

We're also considering driving or flying. Driving would be faster than the train but has a greater risk of delays due to weather. Flights are expensive for two adults and two kids during the times we are looking at.

Time for KXNO to cut ties with the Register

Long overdue anyway. KXNO has talented and fun people with plenty of Connections and the ability to bring more talented people and fun people in.

KXNO is fun. The Register is not fun. I don’t know what the contractual obligations are or the amount of money that changes hands between the two entities but it’s over. KXNO is a content creator, the Register is a problem.

Drop them like AB/InBev dropped Carson King. It’s ruining the stations reputation.

Direct TV vs. Dish Network for Cyclone sports

I currently have Direct TV but am getting tired of price increases. I’ve had several discounts that I’ve gotten from threatening to leave, but they are all expiring and my package price has nearly doubled. It appears that since ATT took over that they have clamped down on retention discounts. Does anyone have Dish Network and know if I’ll be able to get the same access to Iowa State football and men’s basketball games that I currently get with Direct TV? Streaming isn’t a good option for me due to living in the country without good access to high speed internet.
